How different was your 1st pregnacy to your 2nd? Symptoms wise i mean.

me, sick as a dog till 18 weeks with ds,
this time, just a bit queasy, but very sore boobs.

Quite different, how about you?

Very different.V sick with ds but fewer symptoms with dd.(Except awful heartburn in latter stages with dd)Congratulations on your pregnancy

No.1 -Pretty sick until 16 weeks. Felt like shit all the way through, though, to be honest (grotty skin, very tired etc) although I was basically healthy. Suffered bad SPD in last 6 weeks. Put on 4 stone. Went 2.5 weeks overdue.

No. 2 - Hyperemesis until 20 weeks-ish. Really, dreadfully ill. Then felt great (had that 'blooming' stage) from about 24-32 weeks. Nice skin/hair/nails etc. Looked good. No SPD. Then got obstetric cholestasis and got rapidly more and more ill. Only put on 2 stone this time. Delivered 2 weeks early.

Similar symptoms, but a lot worse the second time. With DS I remember the nausea being annoying, but I only threw up once and was better by 15 weeks. This time, felt really ill, threw up a lot and it only went around 20 weeks. Had heartburn towards the end last time - this time it's already kicked in at 5 months. I've put it down to me being quite a bit older - but some friends say it means I'm having a girl.

DD who is now 17mo - Great pregnancy, only a bit of sickness but only felt it and didnt last long. Not much else, very big bump and swollen hands and feet.

DC2 - Due in January. Sick until 17 weeks, so tired I couldnt talk, big and uncomfortable bump from early on.

So different its unreal and dc2 is apparently a girl. I suppose it doesnt help that Im forever chasing around after dd.

Quite different

With dd i was pretty ill until around 16 weeks, felt sick and was sick on a regular basis, even so it was a good pregnancy. Nice neat bump, gentle movements. She was born at 40+ 5.

With ds, i felt a little sick but nothing major, just a bit queasy at times, was never actually sick though. Def felt different to my 1st pregnancy, i had a huge bump, and ds was like a bloody ox, he used to make me wince with movements, it would take my breath away and i would jump. My feet were swollen and i felt pretty lousy towards the end, he was born at 38 weeks thankfully...i don't think i could have coped with any longer, i just wanted him out.

No difference except didn't have sore boobs in beginning second time!

nickytwotimes · 29/11/2009 16:18

No.1 : pretty bad ms, but able to function. Tired pretty much all the way through, but genenrally healthy. PGP from half way, but exccellent physio sorted me out.

No.2 : I am 13 wks atm. had horrific hyperemesis and exhaustion that goes with it. Have wished for mc through sheer suffering and desperation. On the mend now thank God and starting to function. Not enjoying it at all though. Hope that will change now I am getting stronger again.

DD: Horrendous nausea until about 19 weeks, heartburn, looked awful with spots and lank hair, put on weight all over, swollen hands and carpal tunnel syndrome, painful hips at night. Went 2 weeks over.

This time am 22 weeks so far have had: Even More Horrendous nausea until about 19 weeks, heartburn (earlier than last time), huge sore boobs, but I look much better than last time thankfully - no spots and hair looks thick and healthy rather than greasy and lank. Bump is massive already, much bigger than last time.

Find out tomorrow at scan if it will be a DD or DS!

heth1980 · 29/11/2009 19:32

Mine have both been exactly the same so far (am 26 weeks with DD2 at the minute).......maybe because I'll have had 2 girls?

ten10 · 29/11/2009 19:48

2nd very different from my first but outcome the same as I have two boys.

1st - I was sick twice a day for the first three months and went off all food, and then felt fantastic, like super woman. waters broke two weeks early

2nd - no sickness in first 3 months in fact ate like a horse, and felt great but then very tired for the next 6 months and anaemic. waters broke 5 days late
