apparantly babies often come on a full moon. im 37 weeks and have had enough! there is a full moon on 2nd dec and im hoping this will prompt baby to make a move . Please share your stories with me about full moon arrivals or tell me to get a grip and not get my hopes up.

I've just looked, none of my 3 were full moon babies - they were all natural no inductions etc.

Is there actually a link.

Good luck for when they do turn up.

peppapighastakenovermylife · 28/11/2009 18:14

According to midwives here, more babies are born on an incoming tide than an outgoing one...

thehairybabysmum · 28/11/2009 18:34

Well with ds2 i was chatting to my friend on hte full moon, she was also pregnant. We had both heard teh full mon thing and commented on it as she was due. Sure enough went into labour that night.

Cue one month later and me now 37 weeks; anohter full moon...i commented on this to DH on phone (he was working away at te time). No signs of labour at all...went to bed at 11 pm. Woke up 45 mins later with contractions 3 mins apaart!!

So worked for me and my friend, but prob a coincidence...will keep my fingers crossed for you onthe 2nd though just in case

thehairybabysmum · 28/11/2009 18:35

Dd1 was born on a full moon (1.5 weeks early).

Fingers crossed for you.

funtimewincies · 28/11/2009 20:13

Ooh, hope so, I'm due the 29th!

ViveLeCliche · 28/11/2009 20:21

Gah. Am due 20th - next one after 2nd is 31st December.

PercyPigPie · 28/11/2009 20:25

When I had DC1 (full moon) there were so many people on the wards you could hardly move - I gave birth with, until the last half hour, only a student midwife telling me to let her know when I was about to crown . When DC1 started school, there were 5 in his year with birthdays over a two day period!

Catz · 28/11/2009 20:34

I've heard this too and am due on the 4th in an always overcrowded teaching hospital that tried to send me home without examining me when I was 7cm last time... torn between madly eating pineapple and drinking raspberry leaf tea for the next two days and crossing my legs and sitting very still till the due date!

BikeRunSki · 28/11/2009 20:36

My mw told me this when I was 36+6.
DS came on full moon at 37+5!
Full moon + mid September = jammed packed maternity ward!

muddle78 · 28/11/2009 21:41

oooh, i will be 37+5 on tues 2nd! im feeling very encouraged now

Now 40+3 and have had too many false starts during this last week. I'm tired, fat and frustrated .

LifeOfKate · 02/12/2009 19:05

I'm with you, funtime, I'm 41 weeks today and no signs despite full moon I even hoovered the stairs today in desperation, that's dedication to the cause!!

PanicMode · 02/12/2009 19:13

Just checked all 3 DCs and none were born on a full moon!

muddle78 · 02/12/2009 19:30

funtimewincies · 02/12/2009 19:36

Oh please let that be true muddle! A major sense of humour failure is only more more false alarm away in my household .

LifeofKate - it's the kitchen and bathroom floor on hands and knees for me tomorrow is nothing shifts. Ds' birthday is on the 7th and I really don't want him to have to share his birthday with a sibling.
