you'd know about an ectopic before 9-10 weeks wouldn't you?

What i've taken to be normal stretching pains til now have worsened tonight instead of clearing once i've come to bed, and are now severe enough to be keeping me awake.

They are in right hand side, so am expecting it's most likely a flare up of my gall stones (and what great timing that would be), but just want to relieve the small worry of it being an ectopic.

maybe ask for a scan tomorrow just to put your mind at rest?

and congrats, btw

It's a severe pain in your shoulder you need to worry about with an ectopic

CantSleepWontSleep · 27/11/2009 01:20

the shoulder pain indicates a rupture though mrsb, and if it were ectopic I'd rather know before it came to that.
Thanks both though .

not necessarily, csws, i'm afraid. you can have ectopics in various places, some can be caught later. it is, much more likely to be your gall stones, but you do need to tell the doc tomorrow and get scanned.

greensnail · 27/11/2009 01:31

oh no, hope you manage to rule out an ectopic tomorrow, and hope you manage to get back to sleep soon!

CantSleepWontSleep · 27/11/2009 05:55

ah aitch I hoped you'd be around.
Would ectopic pain come and go, or stick around? Feels better at the mo, and I could really do without having to be scanned today as have both dc and plans!

CSWS, I had what sounds like the same pains when I found out I was pregnant (mine came and went, was more severe in the evenings and morning when I was in bed) and we were worried about ectopic, they just did a blood test and riled it our very quickly x

BabyBolat · 27/11/2009 06:21

oh we found out at 4 weeks so you can def know before 9-10 weeks

RnB · 27/11/2009 06:25

oh no, hope you're ok CSWS x

AitchTwoToTangOh · 27/11/2009 09:58

dunno, really, i could show you ten ectopic pregnancies with the only thing in common is a baby in the wrong place, tbh. it could come and go, tbh, but otoh so could gallstone pain.
you would need to be scanned, they sincerely cannot rule anything out with a blood test. three blood tests would have been an indicator but at 9 weeks hcgs stop behaving in the same way.

i'm sure it's fine, gallstones more likely (or even adhesions if you've had abdo surg since last preg or had a cs) but probably better safe than sorry.

CantSleepWontSleep · 27/11/2009 10:30

Well I've spoken to my midwife who isn't concerned at this stage, and I do think it's more likely to be gallstones, so I'll have to avoid crisps before bed for a while in case they are too fatty - bah humbug!

Thanks all.
