This is my first baby so no idea what/when to expect baby's first movements. My pregnancy "bible" says "gentle flutters" for first timers towards the latter end of 16-20weeks. But I just felt what I can only describe as drumming your fingers on the table?! But really quite hard, enough to take me aback, and about an inch or two to the right of my belly button. Could this be baby or some really bizzare gas bubble?! Please excuse my ignorance!!

Could well be, I felt movements at 15 weeks with both mine too.

The novelty will wear off though

Well now I'm not so covinced because its now been about 2.5hours since said potential movement, but not felt a peep since. Hmm I got excited!

It could well have been

I started feeling my baby move at 14 weeks although my m/w looked at me a bit odd but this is my fourth and I know what to feel now

Chunkamatic · 26/11/2009 12:47

I felt my first movements with this one around 15wks and with my first at around 16wks so I would say so. I always described the feeling as a strong popping feeling. It's not till they are a bit bigger and really giving you a good nudge that you are able to feel them that frequently so I wouldn't worry that you haven't felt it again!
Congtratulations!

It probably was, pg with my first too, felt one isolated movement at 14 weeks and never felt anything again for about another week and a half, but I know what I felt, as you sound like you do.
Its great aint it?

Congrats!

It's really normal for first movements to be very spaced out, especially to have one or two and then nothing for a while. It's because the baby is so small and your uterus comparatively big that they can 'swim' off into a corner where you can't feel them and stay there.

I felt dd at 16/17 weeks and if felt like a tiny drum beat. Like being in a noisy club and the floor vibrating only in your uterus.
