Hi everyone,

I'm knitting for my baby while pregnant.
I'm not a big expert or anything I just find it nice to make her something myself and find it relaxing too.

I was wondering if anyone else is knitting for their baby and if anyone wants to get together to knit and chat, swap tips/patterns?

I am 31, 27 weeks pregnant with my first baby and live in NW london.

Where do you live in NW London? I sometimes go to the Starbucks on the top of Borders at Brent Cross to knit if I have a couple of hours free...

Hello fellow knitters!

I have been knitting for my bump for a few months now. Like you, I find it incredibly relaxing and has actually helped me to slow down and take things a bit easier during my pregancy!

I'm self-taught mainly but had a couple of pointers from my mum and the internet, and Debbie Bliss (in books!)

I'm in South London and there are quite a few social knitting clubs around. The local knitting shop has evening classes and there is also a knitting night at the local pub. It may be worth checking what's in your local area FJMi?

Happy knitting everyone! We will have the most stylish babies in town!!

PurlyQueen: I live in Swiss Cottage so Brent Cross isn't far

Hello knitting ladies!
I am a keen knitter, I only made my DD a hat when I was pg with her as my mum went into cardi-overdrive. The hat was a Debbie Bliss pattern. I've just made DD (now 22 months) a beautiful cardi out of bright purple bamboo yarn, it fits her perfectly now although supposed to be for 2-3 year olds .
I'm 22 weeks now with number 2 and have already done him a Debbie Bliss hat and have bamboo and wool to make a tank top and a cardi.
I'm also in full toy-knitting mode, I've just made one niece a pink rabbit and I'm doing another niece a set of stripy mice. I'm planning to do DC2 a dog, all from this lovely book. I've got quite a few good hints and tips from knitting for dummies.
I work fulltime and just find it so relaxing to knit in the evenings. DH sometimes complains that I'm ignoring him, but I only do that when I get to a really complicated bit .

Such a good thread (just got the pun )

I love knitting, but can only do a row or two before hands go dead and are then painful I have found www.knittinghelp.com/ really helpful.

However doing crochet is fine and has become a firm favourite This is the pattern I am following at the moment www.bevscountrycottage.com/laprobe.html - it is so easy and doesn't require thought which is good for my pregnancy state

That's really pretty wibblela. I am trying to teach myself to crochet at the moment, but knitting keeps taking over. I want to make granny squares!

is a dead easy baby hat to knit and very cute. I am slowly slowly doing a scarf for me and as mat leave starts tomorrow I hope to speed up a bit on it! Anyone fancy getting together fo a stitch and bitch sometime in jan in London somewhere. Haha that would bemuse people a gaggle of pregnant knitting ladies!

Jardins- yup I had jab too living in London and working with kids made it the right thing for me. Those pterifying early days have gone but did get very sad in nov as that would have been month I would have become a mum if we hadn't lost first pregnancy. So we brought the new baby a present from the baby that didn't make it. It's a musical monkey toy with a mini monkey attached so they are holding hands and when you pull on them it plays a tune. In my head the mini monkey is the baby that didn't make it but is always connected to and looking out for the baby that is going to make it. Gosh that sounds weird written down and am not a particularly spiritual person but hey it made me feel better. Sorry all for hijack back to knitting!
