Is your placenta on the front? Also as its your first this sounds really normal, in a couple of weeks you will get very big kicks!

bogie · 23/11/2009 11:29

With my 1st 2 I had loads and loads of movement from about 16-17 weeks..... I am 26 weeks with number 3 now and I am having hardly any big movments just at night time.

emily89 · 23/11/2009 11:34

wouldnt know where my placenta is ? i have my 20 week scan tmz, should i ask ?

Yes, do, because with my third baby's placenta was on the front and i didnt feel much at all until much later on, like 25 weeks.

Honestly, its very normal to feel tiny movements at your stage in your first pg.

emily89 · 23/11/2009 11:38

ok thanks so if my placenta is up front it just means that im going to feel later on instead of now ? and it doesnt effect baby health at all ?

I think what you're feeling is normal, how early you feel the baby move varies a lot between different women. The "bubble popping" sounds right, and I felt it very low down to start with too.
If your placenta is "anterior" (towards the front) it will mean you might not feel movements as strongly. They'll tell you at the scan tomorrow if you ask. I bet you'll be able to see your little one squirming and moving around on the screen )

Scorps · 23/11/2009 11:41

The palcenta position doesn't affect the baby's health no, just we all hope its not covering the exit hole . if it is on the front it will be cushioning movements.

If it isnt then you are still VERY normal

well thanks guys

had tons of movements with DS and very few with DD and really worried - used to poke my bump trying to get her to move

she's fine! and much less hyper than big brother (phew!)

Gargula · 23/11/2009 16:43

Hi,
I have this problem as well. This is my second pregnancy and I'm 19 weeks and barely feeling any movement - but with my first I was feeling movement a lot earlier.
Had to go to hospital today and luckily they gave me a scan. Baby was fine and they said that it was moving around loads - but I couldn't feel a thing.
I'm carrying quite low - I wonder if that could effect it.
Good luck with your scan.

hoops997 · 23/11/2009 16:50

emily I'm 21 weeks and found out at my scan that my placenta is anterior (which means at the front) and my kicks and movements are muffled.......

Try not to worry, I'm not and this is my first too, good luck with your scan tomorrow, it's great seeing a little human thrashing around

Chynah · 23/11/2009 17:26

I am 20 weeks and don't feel her move very much. My placenta isn't anterior and she is my second. I'm sure I felt her older brother more strongly by now but can't really remember.

teletubby7777 · 24/11/2009 11:43

Emily -- I am in much the same position.....how did it go today?

Wishing you all the best.....

ShowOfHands · 24/11/2009 11:46

Hope all went well today.

A lot of first timers aren't feeling any movement at 20 weeks. Your baby's still fairly small and low down.

Crapweasel · 24/11/2009 11:55

Another one here who didn't feel (or didn't think I felt) anything until well after 20 week scan. My mum drove me crazy saying "oh you must be feeling it by now". "No Mum, shut up please".

Again it was an anterior placenta - did get lots of movement later on and DD was fine.

blackteaplease · 24/11/2009 13:30

Hello

I wanted to add to the list of those that say it's normal. I didn't feel anything until 21 weeks and was very nervous before my 20 week scan but was reassured by the wee one bouncing around on the screen.

I'm now 37 weeks and am getting big kicks daily.

Hopefully you'll feel more movement soon

emily89 · 27/11/2009 11:18

my scan confirmed that i was having a boy only thing was she worried me with saying about the cord having 2 vessels wen it should have 3 not really knowing too much about this , but im looking into it. since scan tho have felt him kick around at night hopefully everything will be ok
