Antibiotics can make you prone to thrush, so it's probably that. If you have to take antibiotics again, take some asidophilis capsules at the same time - or any 'good bacteria' - this will help prevent thrush.

Antibiotics can make you susceptible to thrush so that might be what it is, however I'd be wary of taking Canesten or whatever until you have spoken to your doctor if you have had a kidney infection and are pregnant.

It's probably worth asking a pharmacist their view and of course, make sure you drink plenty of water.

Hope you feel better soon, and congratulations on your pregnancy !

agree probably thrush, always get it after antibiotics

acidulphus from the fridge area of a good health store.

Take 2 a day but you can also open a casule and use the powder to relieve the symptoms by applying it to the area.

Yes - it will be thrush. Ask your doctor for something to use.

Pharmacists tend to say no to everything for pregnant women, but according to my doctor, Canesten 1% cream is fine to use but don't use the pessaries or the oral version.

I took 7 days of antibiotics for a UTI and then got thrush. It was miserable. I used the canesten cream as others are suggesting. And put it on very regularly as t was so itchy! Wear cotton pants and also live yoghurt can be applied as a natural alternative I believe. Good luck!

Orangesarenottheonlyfruit · 23/11/2009 16:36

Yep, anitbiotics give me thrush every time and mouth ulcers as well sometimes.
Miserable, isn't it?

I read about a natural remedy of very diluted tea tree oil which I tried last time and which actually worked (to my surprise!):
Just put a few drops in boiled, cooled water and wipe around the area gently with a cotton wool pad twice a day - my symptoms eased immediately & went completely after 3 days.
