Piercings and pregnancy?

Still TTC but it's just occurred to me that ,y piercings could make the experience, erm, interesting.

I've currently got my nipple pierced and a genital piercing (vertical hood piercing). I'm loathe to take out, especially the hood piercing. :-s

Has anyone else had these piercings through pregnancy? What was you experience like?

I wouldn't have thought the genital piercing would make much difference. Not sure about the nipple r.e. breastfeeding. The type that would have to be removed is belly button though - this will stretch flat or even turn inside out, and I dread to think what would happen with a piece of metal in there!!

Ouchie, just the thought of navel piercings (even without pregnancy) makes me cringe.

Nevermind that at one point I had 15 piercings, I still wouldn't let anyone put a needle anywhere near my navel.

i have my belly button pierced and its fine, im 34 weeks. i have a maternity one in though so its long and bendy.
i have gotten a lot of stretch marks all over my stomach though so it doesnt look particularly nice.

i wouldnt have thought the genital piercing would have been a problem other than maybe when u give birth and u are much more prone to infections and all that stuff and have more discharge so it might irritate the piercing a bit.

but ur nipples and breasts change a lot while you are pregnant so i dont know if it would affect ur nipple piercing especially if you would want to breast feed! i havent got either of those piercings though im just guessing xx

I changed my nipple bar to a bigger one during pregnancy. It started annoying me so took it out. Breastfed ds for a few weeks and he had o problems feeding from that nipple. Bar wasnt in though

When we first decided we wanted to conceive I was adamant I wouldn't breast feed, now I'm not so sure so may take that piercing out.

that should have been no problems. I left it till i couldnt bare to have it in. Didnt want to take it out either

BTW I have had 3 children and not taken out my belly ring with any- nor did i change it to a maternity one- and my piercing is not stretched or anything like you mentioned!

I also had a nipple piercing but took this out when PG with first and BF no probs as it had closed up by then. I hope you do change your mind about BF because it is lovely .
