I would be interested in hearing about your experience of independent midwives in or around Bristol. I am not interested in Doulas.

Would appreciate any feedback.

I used Bristol Birth Practice last year, would definitely recommend

Thanks Slacker, could you tell me a little more about your experience and why you liked their care?

I wanted more personal care for my 5th baby than I was going to get from the NHS, and that was what I got - lots of long antenatal appointments in my home, involving my other children, discussing everything that may have been relevant, feeling like a person not just a number...and if i had needed to transfer to hospital they have a good relationship with the local hospitals.

My main midwife was Jo but had a couple of meetings with Sally too as they both come to the birth - I had another easy homebirth but felt that if anything had gone 'wrong' they are professional, confident and well prepared for all eventualities. Definitely worth an initial consultation to see how you get on!

Oh and when I had to take the baby to hospital just after we'd been discharged, Jo came with me as my dh was away - she is a lovely caring person.

slacker thank you for sharing your experience with me. I used IM for my DS2 when I was living in the midlands and they were so lovely, I have high expectations and am worried to be disappointed, but it sounds like they are equally lovely. I will probably book an initial appointment
