Hi everyone, im very confused and could do with some help\advice. It is our 1st month TTC and AF was due yesterday but didnt arrive. Yesterday i did a first response test that showed a faint 2nd line so out i went and got a boots test, that came back BFN.

Still no AF today so did the 2nd first response as soon as i got up this morning (stronger hormones etc) and again there was a faint 2nd line but even fainter than yesterday?

Any ideas whats going on?

thanks in advance

If the 2nd line has colour, no matter how faint, then yes you are pregnant - congratulations.

fudgecat · 20/11/2009 18:54

thanks MunchMummy

yikes! i never expected this to happen on the 1st month of trying

I guess that maybe its too soon to be picked up by the normal boots test... will do the 2nd boots test in a day or so and go from there.

hi, its me again and im now even more confused...

i had just got my head around the fact that a faint line on the first response test was still a positive but this morning i decided to use the 2nd boots test i had with fmu and that was a BFN?!?!?!

i also have no symptoms other than being over emotional and crying a lot, but that may just be because of how confused i am..

so confused.... any thoughts?

TBH not much you can do except wait and test again if AF doesn't turn up.

If AF does turn up you can torture yourself like this again every month! You say AF was due, are you always REALLY regular?

Hope you are btw

MumNWLondon · 22/11/2009 21:58

I hope you are pregnant, but if you are not, do you really want to go through this every month? Its easy to drive yourself mad and waste lots of money on tests?

My advice - go and buy most sensitive tests you can find and give them to DH/DP to look after. Use one on day after AF is due and if BFN use no more until 2 days later, only on FMU.

If it turns out you are not pregnant then you probably had a chemical pregnancy, very normal and can cause confusion by showing a BFP (esp a faint one) followed by the BFN.

I totally agree with MumNWLondon.

My gp said he hates those supersensitive early testers as they pick up chemical pregnancies and can cause alot of heartache.

Most people were never aware of these until these tests came about.

Happened to me, faint link then af came few days late with a bfn.

If I were you I would only test a couple of days after you are due with first wee of the day. I can not tell how much money I have wasted on tests especially the early testers.

But saying that I did have a very very faint line with dd2 and she is here so until your af arrives there is still hope. Try and relax, if af comes then there is only a couple of weeks to wait before you can try again and this time dont taste until at least the day after your af was due.

good luck!!!!!!!!!! x x x x

try a clearblue test they are the best...the cheaper ones arent very sensitive and only pick up high amounts of hcg...let me know how u get on, its worth it for piece of mind...

cece · 24/11/2009 18:53

My faint line is currently crawling around the floor as I type. It never got very strong and after 2 weeks I did a digital one that actually says the words pregnant or not pregnant. Obviously I was!

winjy · 24/11/2009 18:59

thats brilliant!! so how far are u now??x

Karrierbag · 24/11/2009 19:37

I used a test from the poundshop at 4 weeks and it showed a faint line - I hadn't missed AF but just had a feeling. And I'm now 24 weeks so the cheaper ones do work, maybe not as good as the extra sensitive ones but all the same! lol. Good luck!! xxx

MummyElk · 24/11/2009 19:41

agree on the clearblue tests, they have always been the only ones to work with me but only after a few days late....cheapos send me on an emotional rollercoaster (so i feel your pain) but the good news is....my first faint line is currently asleep upstairs, and my second faint line is kicking me in the ribs
so YES you could be....keep us posted.....

fudgecat · 24/11/2009 20:35

hi everyone, AF turned up in the end 5 days late so i guess it must have been chemical or a very very early mc. I have promised myself that this month i will wait until AF is at least a good few days late until i start testing
(on the positive side you should see how many points i have on my boots card now!)

Oh I'm sorry. Good luck ttc. The super cheap ones are actually more sensitive in most cases btw. Tis a myth that they aren't. If you're a serial tester get some cheap 10 for £2 ones off ebay and only use them when your af is late. Much cheaper than selling your soul to boots.

I hope you're pg very, very soon indeed.

MummyElk · 24/11/2009 21:49

ah fudgecat - well the good news is you get to have lots of sex again for a few weeks/months!! which is more than i've had for a while....!! enjoy the babymaking and good luck with it all - and agree on the ebay cheapies, they give you a good indicator as long as your AF is late....
good luck!

devotion · 25/11/2009 19:14
