Is anyone been given metformin instead of insulin?

Have gestational diabete and have jsut been prescribed metformin however when i have read the leaflet it says pregnant women should have insulin instead? Now i am in 2 minds wether to take it or not, has anyone else had it in pregnancy?

I am not diabetic but my mum is, metformin is used to treat diabeties. So do take it it is better than injecting daily.

Thanks jbambie i am concerned as the leaflet says that insulin should be given in pregnancy not the tablet! Think i will wait and speak to my consultant on monday x
