Anyone have a pre-term baby then go on to have a full term baby next time?

Hi,

I am about 7 wks pg and still a bit in the nervous/what is going on stage! One of the things I'm fretting about is that my son was born a little shy of 36 weeks with no apparant explanation. I know I was lucky - no major difficulties other than a massive struggle to establish breast feeding and a few very stressful days before he started gaining weight. I know, however, that he could have had big problems at that age and I got lucky. I'm just wondering what the chances are of having another early baby are given my history and if there is a chance that I could go full term this time. Probably doesn't help that I've not been able to get a doctor's appt yet so have not been able to pump them for info, so any experience from other mums much appreciated!

36 weeks isn't terribly early but i do understand your concern if you had/needed alot of intervention last time. A few questions,
Did your waters break early and trigger labour?
Did you have any infections such as Group B strep?
Are you sure of the accuracy of your dates? Did they match your period dates?- USS are Only accurate to a week either side.
Do you know ALL babies lose weight and only reach birth weight at around 10 days?
Are you aware of natural ways to strengthen the uterine muscle to support the pregnancy? - such as homeopathy or raspberry leaf tea?

My aunt had my cousin at 35 weeks ( apparently as a result of running for a bus!) and her next 2 babies were fullterm.

I had ds3 at 32 weeks by emergency section and ds4 at 39 weeks by elective section.

My obs was of the opinion that most babies over 32 weeks do fine.

I had my boys at 28 weeks, and then went on to have DD at 39 weeks. Currently 31 weeks with DC4.

I had twins at 29 weeks but went on to have the next baby a day early and all the other little blighters lovely children were late

Two of them made a bid for freedom at 32 weeks and i had drugs to stop pre term labour and they were still late...

Thanks everyone for your kind responses. It makes me feel better. I know that 36 weeks is not that early, it was just very stressful at the time and I suppose I have a fear that if I'm prone to early babies, this one could be even earlier.

PrivateBirthCentre - my waters just broke in the middle of the night, not sure if I had GroupB Strep as the test results were not back yet and so they just treated me as positive. Dates were definitely accurate, I'm sure about that. I was drinking raspberry leaf tea during my last pregnancy so not sure if it helped or not

CeeCee123. I had the same experience, as in my waters just broke in the night, 1 day short of 37 weeks. I know that is all medically fine and im/we are lucky but it was hard to BF and I always wondered if thats why he had reflux and colic and basically was an unsettled baby.
I want a big fat overdue BF monster this time! (33 weeks).
It turned out I had Group B strep so im thinking this had something to do with it.
I have sent away for a private swab test and will do it at 35 weeks. The NHS wont give me their test as they said they'd only treat me as GBS if my DS had been infected which he wasn't. If your interested in this let me know and I will give you their number.
Anyway, I was so convinced that id have an early baby again until I met a girl in the park who had 2 daughters around 2 and 4 years of age. The first had been born at 28 weeks - no explanation. The second was 14 days late!!!

My first three were colicky, 2 fullterm and one preemie. The preemie only got colicky around his due date, before that he had been a dream!
No 4 fullterm and no colic I was very pleasantly surprised.
