Hi all, have had this miserable cold for a week now and have lately developed the matching cough .
I have been taking paracetamol and glycerin honey & lemon linctus but they're not giving me any relief. I don't think I have an infection as (TMI ALERT!) I'm not coughing anything nasty up but at night the whole side of my face hurts including my teeth - (sinuses maybe?) just to add to the fun!
I haven't had a decent night's sleep for days and days and I'm at the end of my tether.
I'd go to docs if I thought it was an infection but I don't think it is so they couldn't give me anything could they?
BTW I can't drink honey in it's natural state, even the linctus makes me gag. Hate the stuff!!
Any ideas appreciated.

I found a hot drink with honey and lemon helped is that not an option perhaps?

I think the only thing you can take is paracetamol, thats what I was told when i felt ill.

Hope you feel better soon!

what I do is I eat lots of organic oranges. I figure the vitamin C has a better quality when found in its natural form. Sometimes I'll squeeze a leamon and an orange together for an extra boost.
I also take prenats vitamins.
Finally really warm soups (homemade if you can: onions, potatoes, leek, parsnips and whatever else you fancy/is in your fridge) are really good in the evening, as well as an early night.

i also give an orange to my 1 year old every evening and i have to say he is less often ill than his friends at nursery so it works.

Good luck!

If you really think your sinuses are involved, DO go to the Doctor. I had acute sinusitis early in my pregnancy and was prescribed antibiotics which sorted it out.

Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks ladies. DS is off with his Granny this afternoon so am resting up. If I don't get any sleep tonight I'll go to docs to see if my sinuses are involved.
A nurse friend told me not to hope too much on feeling better before baby is born now claiming most heavily pg women with colds keep them til they drop!!!

The best thing to clear your head and recommended for sinisitus (sp?) is hot water in a bowl with menthyl or eucaliptus in it (Vics works too). Stick a towel over your head and breath it in. If you have an oil burner then you can also put eucalyptus oil in that too and I have a burner beside my bed for at nights when I have a cold. It really helps clear my nose and I sleep a lot better.
