Do i choose elective ceasarean??

I would like some advice plz

I am 32 weeks pg and have two children who were 9lb 7.5ozs and 7lb 10ozs born both had shoulder dystocia i am in two minds now whether to go for a ceasarean i do not really know what to expect and what date r they likely to give i am due on 8th january so will it be befre xmas??? i have consultant in two weeks and need to get things straight in my head and my mw doesnt seem to have two mins spare to discuss this situation in length with me apart from that her oponion is i should seriously think about pushing for a c section!!

They won't do an elective before 39 weeks unless there are complications and they decide the baby is better out than in.

I saw my consultant at 18 weeks because I had a previous emergency section and decided on an elective one this time.

They should explain all about cs at your appointment. Write down all your questions beforehand and don't let them rush through it.

My consultant rushed through the whole lot because it's my second. Had to remind him that I was unconscious the first time and didn't know much about it!

How old are your other dc? You will need to think about recovery.

Dates when they will do it will vary. 39 weeks for us lands on New Years Eve then there are Bank Holidays after. Mine is booked for 4th January.

Hi Marie. I had an emcs with DS1 now 21 months and am pg again due in April. To be honest the cs wasn't too bad at all and I'd been in labour for 40 hours beforehand so was totally and utterly knackered. The surgery was fine, and I was in the supermarket 3 days later and only needed mild pain killers for a week. Maybe I was lucky, but I know of others who have had a similarly good recovery.

I'm pushing for an elective this time and would say that after what you have been through an elective cs may be a good idea and you would hopefully find it a calm and relaxing birth. I think that if you do go into labour before the date that you are booked, you phone up and they do an emergency section, although as you hopefully won't have had a long labour preceding the surgery, then it won't be as stressful as a 'true' emcs can be - hope that makes sense!

Recovery is obviously an issue and it's something that is a big consideration for me as my ds will be just over 2 when next one is born. If you've got family/friends around then you will need them to help but if you take it easy afterwards then hopefully you will be fine.

Hi there thanks for the reply my other to are 9 and 4 the recovery afterwards is bothering me a little with having the other two but if they give me after new year then prob wont be as bad because they be going back to school/nursery by that time!! Hope all goes well for you

At least you don't have to carry a 15kg toddler! I think that as yours are a bit older, you may find it easier afterwards, but then I don't know as have no experience with older children.

well my daughter will be a big help but my son who is 4 could be the one whos demanding but i am lucky enough to have family close by to help
