Had pre-eclampsia with my dd from 34 weeks, I am now 30 weeks tomorrow with next baby, I have had gestational diabetes for 4 weeks and been to hospital today and there is protein in my urine and have odema, however blood pressure was ok.

Can you have pre-eclampsia without the high blood pressure or is this the beginning of things to come? I am worrying now cos i am only coming up 30 weeks x

Also i have a chest infection at the moment and was wondering if this can cause protein in the urine?

Hi there
I can completely understand your concerns, I too had PE late on in my first pregnancy, and feel very apprehensive about it happening again. I'm currently only 18 weeks, so a way to go.
When do the hospital want to see you again? If they were very concerned, they probably would've admitted you, but it sounds like you need very regular checks from now on. I think if your bp is ok, then things are pretty safe. This is quite an informative website, I've tried to paste a link below.

Try not to worry, easier said than done, but that won't help your BP!
Really hope things stay under control for you.

Good luck on Friday. If they do think your BP is getting higher, then they should be able to offer medication to bring it down. I went onto BP lowering drugs at about 34 weeks last time, not ideal I know, but then the alternatives aren't great either are they. If you are admitted, it will hopefully only be overnight for observation.
