Just had DS3 and had forgotten, having been so preoccupied with packing the baby stuff. Thought it might be useful for 1st timers, please add yours.

  • the biggest pads you can find to start with (leaking blood on hospital bed just as visitors arrive isn't fun) - if you can grab some before leaving delivery suite they are often huge

  • nipple cream like lansinoh or kamillosan

  • lactulose to soften bowel movements (start taking after birth)

  • large pack of paracetamol

  • a few inco pads from hospital if possible to protect your bed for the first couple of days

The glamour of it all .

Good thinking. I am due to have dc2 in January and am starting to think about my bag!

Last time I packed everything except the kitchen sink - This time I want the bare essentials.

Where do you get Lactulose from? Last time I relied on Bran flakes - Yuck!

Any chemists, doesn't cost much.
