3 miscarriages & then a normal pregnancy

A couple of weeks ago I had my 3rd micarriage in a row.
I have 2 dc already.
Has anyone who has had 3 miscarriages gone on to have a normal pregnancy with no medical intervention?
Honestly do not know whether we should try again, all the miscarriages happened 8 + weeks.
Thank you

Hi I had my first ds then a mc then had ds and then dd. I then had 3mcs in a row and thought I couldn't have any more but I am now currently 15 and a half weeks pregnant. I took baby aspirin for the first 12 weeks so don't know if that helped.

i have had 3 miscarriages in a row. I was then diagnosed as having lupus anticoagulant issues and am now 20 weeks pregnant. My miscarriages all happened before 12 weeks.

I cant say i haven't had medical intervention. I have to have heparin shots daily and take aspirin as well but that is all.

i met with the antenatal hematologist last week and he told me it was likely i would be induced rather than have labor begin naturally but that is the only intervention i am expecting.

Hope that helps and i am sorry for your losses.

Hi

I had my daughter in April but as some of you may know, she passed away shorly after birth. I became pregnant again 11 weeks ago but am miscarrying.

I think I have a reason as my blood clotting tests came back abnormal. I am having them repeated to make sure.

Not sure if it is really relevant to post on this thread. I went to see an accupuncturist yesterday (was thinking of having a session to bring on the natural loss as I am too scared of any intervention). Anyway, he said that ideally I should wait 3 or 4 months before trying again because I need my uterus lining to thicken and strengthen in order to allow implantation and retention and reduce risk of another MC. Do any of you think he has a point?

I'm very sorry for the loss of your babies. You must be feeling very raw at the moment.

I hope my story can give you hope. I have had 4 mc but also have 3 children. I was tested for all sorts of things but no cause was identified and I did not have any "treatment". I also know a number of people who have had 4 or more mc and most of them have two or more children. As you already have children, I think your chances of going on to have a subsequent successful pregnancy should be good.

My friend had a normal pregnancy (DS is 3.5) then had 3 miscarriages at 7, 9 and 11 weeks. She has just given birth to a baby boy so there is some hope.

Feel so bad for you though - it was really, really tough for her and she wondered how many more times she could go through it.

Sorry to hear about your mcs. I had an ectopic, then ds, then 3 mcs in a row (all 1st trimester) and am now 37+5 and waiting to drop .

I had all the tests at the mc clinic and the consensus was that, for dh and I, it was 'just bad luck' or some complex medical situation that had yet to be understood.

I reckon that for some reason the secondary stages of implantation just weren't going as they should.

Good luck and hope it works out for you.

Hi Flipperty,

If and when you decide to TTC come and join us on for mums starting again after going through a whole pile of crap. Since dd1 was born (without a second thought) I've had 2 mcs and my DD2 was still born at term, I am now nearly 10wks and trying not to be too annoyingly anixious about everything.

Take care of yourself, this must be a really crap time for you.

scotlass · 13/11/2009 21:37

flipperty I'm another one who has had luck after mc.

I have one DD who was born after an uncomplicated pg and was devastated when 8yrs later we tried to have another DC only to have 3 1st trimester mcs in a row. Tests were inconclusive and we felt completely helpless. I felt guilty for wanting another baby so much and wasn't sure how I would cope with another mc but we stayed off the contraception and conceived 2mths after our 3rd mc. After an extremly fraught pg DS was born fit and healthy in April. I took baby aspirin 1st and 2nd trimester and was under the care of an angel mw at our local EPU who saw me weekly and gave me ongoing reassurance.

It's heartbreaking and mc still hurts like hell even if you do already have DC. I really hope if you and your DP decide to keep trying you too go on to have a successfull pg.

PacificDogwood · 13/11/2009 21:42

I had 3 MMCs in a row, all before 10 weeks, had extensive investigations, no reason for MCs found (although incidental genetic problem I carried identified, not sure that I needed to now this), had DS1 without any kind of intervention, DS2 1 year later, further MMC, then DS3, currenlty expecting DS4.
Yes, I know, I am v v lucky.

Have you had any test/investigation to try and explain your repeated losses? I found our Recurring Miscarriage Clinic very helpful and support, in bad times and in good.

Best of luck to you and your DP.

mimisallday · 13/11/2009 21:50

My sister had 3 mc including a twin pg then an eptopic pg. Then 2 dc's, then a mc and then #3. It was hell for her but she now has 3 lovely dc's.... depends on how you feel about it

mimisallday · 13/11/2009 21:51

oh and she had no interventions in any of her pg's, perfectly normal
