Horrible raised red rash on bump, and infuriatingly itchy legs. I showed it to the midwife, but she didn't seem bothered and changed the subject. Any tips?

Lanacane cream is pretty good for itching. I get horrible itching after I have a bath, which is frustrating as bath soothe my sore pelvis and all my other inconveniences of pregnancy. I also have very itchy patches on my legs where spider/varicose veins are forming.

I have been hideously itchy this pregnancy, it really is a complete pain. I have found the only thing that works is smothering on really intensive moisturiser several times a day. Even that doesn't really work, just eases it a bit. Mine was so bad I went to the doctor and they sent me for a blood test for (OC I think, some liver thing, may have that wrong). I think this is pretty rare and I don't have it but if it persists maybe you should get it checked too?

I had this in my first pregnancy from waist to toes - couldn't sleep at all and had to lie in a cool bath every two hours through the night to stop me going insane with the itching.

Calamine lotion did nothing. Eventually (they took a couple of days to kick in) some anti-histamines worked. I was so desperate to stop it that despite not having had so much as a paracetamol all pregnancy, I would have taken anything at all.

I developed this this week (I am 38 wks pg), had horrible itching on hands and feet and then a rash on my thighs like I had been bitten all over.

Because of the persistent itching on my hands and feet I called the midwife and was called in for tests (liver function/bile acid tests) as apparently it can be quite serious. They came back ok (still waiting for the bile test tho) but it was quite scary.

The doctor said it could be dry skin or an allergy....still at least its stopped.

If your hands and feet are itching I would press your midwife and don't be fobbed off.

It could be PUPP - polymorphic eruption of pregnancy. I had it, itching drove me MAD evetually got steroid cream which sorted it. MW was usless when i first showed it to her.

Over the past few days I've developed a rash on my face and my legs and chest are really itchy. Saw midwife today and she wasn't bothered. Just suggested I could be allergic to something and if it didn't go away with calamine lotion then I could get antihistamines from my GP.
Why on my face though?! Feel like walking round with a bag on my head. People keep looking at me like I've got measles.

I had terrible itching o my feet and it was OC. It's dangerous for the baby so do get tested.

Go to your GP if the midwife isn't interested. I had OC so know how horrible the itching can be. You don't tend to get a rash with OC, but as Eliza says it could be PUPP.
