Who's good at reading MW notes? (mears or anyone)

Just had a sweep and notes read:

cx slightly posterior (I presume this is cervix, its always like that, they can never find it for a smear)
Multip os admits fingertip (although she said 1-2)
membranes intact
pp ceph -2 to ishroid spines

Just the last bit really, no idea what thats about.
She said babys head is 3/5 engaged but when she did the sweep it felt a bit high
Also is it fairly normal to be dilated 1-2cm on 3rd baby, or is it something to be excited about?

Have no idea about your last bit, but I was 1-2cm dilated from about 30 weeks in my 2nd pregnancy, midwife said it was normal and to be expected with subsequent pregnancies.

How many weeks are you?

no idea but the last bit sounds like you're about to give birth to a hedgehog

presenting part head ,the -2 is the station where the baby is at, it is at the ischial spines? it is partly engaged, it has to go from -5 to +5 which is crowning, so you are partially engaged, but with a subsequent baby, oftne they don't really engage utnil labour is underway

it is fairly normal to have multip os i.e 1-2 fingertips dilated, after you've delivered bfore, as the cervix nver fully closes again, that is what multip os is

you want an anterior cervix ideally, that is another sign of ripening.. did she say it was soft? it is good that she could reach at this stage to give you a sweep, so who knows what mght happen! good luck

aching is normal whether it's pre labour/labour or late pregnancy niggles

That probably should have read "-2 to ischial spines" - those are the pointy bits of your pelvis near your "sitting bones". "PP ceph" means "presenting part, cepalic" - translated: baby's head.

"multip os" means "multiparous cervical os" - multiparous is Latin for "you've had more than one child", cervical os is the opening. Yes, it's normal for the cervix to be dilated a few centimetres with a third baby. And a posterior cervix is also normal, that's just how your body is built. Mine was so far posterior prior to Jackbaby I had to have my bum up on three pillows for a smear, LOL! Bit different now... GP said at my first smear after JB "oh, look, there it is!!"

how bad though? is deffo worse and different to back pain Ive had for last few weeks?

Back ache any better? When the baby's head descends, it can press on the sacral nerves, and how badly it presses on them depends on the presentation - back-to-back (occiput posterior) hurts a lot more than when baby's back is to your front (occiput posterior). If baby is currently posterior, don't let that scare you - most of them shift when labour starts.

thank you again jacksmama. I went to bed at 8pm and the contractions tailed off. Have had nothing since Still losing some show, although not much.
Baby was LOA at midwife appointment but he's wriggling today so seems to be swinging back and forth. He was back 2 back at one point but I have made an effort to not slouch in chairs and spend most of the time on my swiss ball so hoping he wont swing back as my 2 previous babys gave me a lot a backache during labour depsite them not actually being posterior

Jackbaby wasn't posterior but his head got stuck crookedly when my waters went so I had the most horrendous back labour. I feel your pain!!!
Apparently being on your hands and knees helps baby's heaviest part (his back) to swing around so I tried spending a lot of time in that position. Wrists got sore though.

No and am quite upset about things this morning (see other thread in pregnancy)

But on the plus side I did lose my show this morning, never had this after sweep with ds, it was a huge great big slimy monster, Ive never seen anything quite like it, so hoping this is a good sign that things are moving
