Asthma in Pregnancy

My asthma is terrible today, it seems to get worse when my hayfever does. I have been in bed all day, finding it an effort to do anything - just wondering if there's anyone else suffering from asthma right now and any herbal remedies? I'm on local honey which is supposed to be good for the hayfever and it seems to help my chest, any other suggestions?
I've taken normal dose of preventer but reliever doesn't seem to be doing much. Chest is sooooo tight This doesn't effect the baby does it?

If chest is bad go and see doctor. You may need your disages changed of preventer. Your asthma should be managed just the same as when you are not pregnant.

hi, you need to make sure that you get enough oxygen, as if you don't then the baby doesn't. Don't take any herbal remedies over the counter, without checking with gp/qualified herbalist.

I had very bad asthma at the start of my pregnancy and my inhalers weren't working. I had to go to hospital and have steroids. Didn't want them, but was told the benefits outweighed the risks.

Call your doctor if you are concerned.

Do you take ventolin as well as becotide (I take it that's what you mean by preventer)?

Wow, thank you for such quick replies. Yes, I take the two. The ventolin isn't doing much - I think i took a bit too much over the course of the evening. I'd wake up to visit the bathroom wheezing like Mutley - not funny (but imagine that dog from Whacky Races!)So just kept puffing...

theres something called the buteyko method- a type of breathing to help alleviate asthma - see www.buteykobreathingassociation.org or try googling for the method or maybe someone on mn has been taught how to do it?

Buteyko is supposed to be good, but I think you need something now if your breathing is bad.

My asthma was worse and doctor told me to up my dosage of becotide. I was on 200 mcg twice daily. Upped it to 300 and it's made a BIG difference.

The doctor also reassuerd me that as long as I was still functioning - i.e. conscious - not to worry about the baby getting enough oxygen.

But if your asthma is uncontrolled then you definitely need to see the doctor. I'm sure you know how fast it can make a turn for the worse.
