Health Vistor antenatal visit

I am 28 weeks and I had a call from the local health visitor the other day asking if she could come and see me and my DH to introduce herself and see how I was getting on.

Is this normal? I always thought that they came round after the birth? When I expressed surprise she got a bit flustered and tried to change the subject.
Just wondering if it has anything to do with the fact that I am on a very low dose antidepressant prescribed to me a few years ago as I have a health condition which resulted in me losing my job. Health condition is manageable now but still on medication.

Any thoughts would be welcome thanks.

My health visitor made a home visit while I was pregnant with twins. I think they may do them if they think a mother might need extra help. With the singletons they've only visited after the births (had a visit Tuesday as my youngest is 12 days old). After one visit they'll probably be reassured that you are coping and not need to do anything out of the ordinary.

My HV came while I was still pregnant, it seemed like a very routine appointment. She just talked at me for an hour and handed over a load of leaflets.

no, mine came both times, normal i think.
Apparently it was "to do a breastfeeding talk" but also to introduce herself. I also think it was to quickly check out living conditions / other adults/children in the house iyswim.

Think it may be normal in some areas. Mine came round recently and said it was a combination "welcome to the area" for DD and antenatal visit for DD2 (unborn as yet).

Think depending on staffing in each area, HV's will either give everyone an antenatal visit or if staffing levels tight will just target first time Mums and others who may need extra help. It's a chance to get your red book and meet them before.
