I am suffering SPD (for the second time) and just need to vent without driving everyone else on my pregnancy thread mental. Not that they aren't supportive but I still have 20 weeks to go and I don't want to ruin their pregnancies by talking about mine!

Please come and join me so I don't feel so alone, and feel free to share tips if you have any....

Morning all. Well I have physio appt today but tbh, now feel a bit of a fraud as quite an OK day today - comparatively speaking of course!! First one since last Friday though and was literally clinging to walls. So will have the NHS "begged for" appt today and see course of action then book private physio at least once a week to work in conjunction with the other - IYKWIM!

Ah - fraud indeed. Went to physio who felt that everything was indeed in the right place today and there was very little she could do physio wise . So she has cancelled my next appointment and instead put me on the SOS list which means if my pelvis slips back up again (which apparently it is v likely to), I can call them and they will get me next available urgent appointment - so not too bad I guess. She is lovely and just said there is so little that they can do at this stage of pregnancy, other than manipulate pelvis to where it should be, albeit probably temporarily. Sigh.....

Good news on no pain today then CTOFN! i suppose its just one of those things just like waiting ages for a bus then 2 come at the same time just as a friends stops and offers you a lift!!!!
Pain was not to bad today but my appt with physio is not till friday so we never know!
compared to other people suffering i feel more 50/50 and i wake up and just so thankful "im feeling no pain today" or "its not that bad i can cope" im just gad it a temp thing and when this baby os born all will return to normal! well i hope soooo!

Evening Mama! I collected kids from school this pm complete with my crutches and lots of comments from the other mums - "what have you done?" etc. One of them looked at me and said "SPD?" - "YES!" I replied - she then informed me she still suffers 7 years after birthing her last DC - aaaaaarrrrrrggggh!!!!!!

Mama2b5 · 21/10/2009 19:40

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO say its not so! i refuse to accept that for me! im praying all will be well after baby is born!
Crutches oh boy, i took 45 mins to walk up the road after collecting DS from school he turned at me as to say hurry up!PS- this was uphill!

I now have a generalised back ache btw which I truly believe is from using the crutches - not quite using them properly etc! Who'd be a bloody woman???!!

Herbie, that's quite a terrifying thought! I naively thought last time round that when they said "It'll go after the baby arrives" that that meant as soon as. In reality I had zimmer for a further 48 hours and couldn't carry DD upstairs for two weeks then had 9 months of physio and training before I felt I had solid core stability. Liars!!! But FWIW I knew that I'd get it again and still wanted to get pregnant (so only have myself to blame )

CTOFN- I know what you mean about the "What have you done [insert slightly patronising tone here]?" comments. Supremely annoying, no? I've yet to come across someone in real life who suffered from SPD and gets it without being told....

I think my back is partly from using stick so ordered pair of purple crutches online today!! God bless the interweb.

Hi, just marking my place on the thread. Just found out I'm pregnant with no. 4.

I had moderate SPD with my last two pregnancies, which more or less went away between and after the pregnancies, but I always get twinges at certain times of the month.

I'm quite sore at the moment, but I'm hoping that's just the pg hormones kicking in and it'll settle down again for a while before it gets bad again. I'm literally only 4 weeks pg at the moment.

Welcome nowwhattodoido. I sincerely hope you don't get SPD back again and if so, on a mild/moderate level. Sending you healthy pelvic vibes but come and sit on our sofa if you feel like listening to us moan and winge (or rather me moan and winge)

I'm putting fingers in my ears at the sound of this not going away - am already disabled, just wouldn't be fair!!! sulks

Maximum of 24 days left, but really don't know if I can even manage that. Have woken up today in absolute agony. Trying to remind myself it will all be okay and totally worth it when he gets here, but today the pain is so bad that keeps slipping my mind, and every time he kicks or shifts at all it adds to the pain. My ME has flared up because of the season too, and am struggling to seperate the different pains.

Sorry for ranting but its so painful today

Thanks. Have stopped feeling quite so sorry for myself now!! Going to clean the bathroom. Washing machine is on. Dishes are done. Rather tempted to go to the shops and get a load of cleaning stuff - DP is such a man

BellasYummyMummy you can tell them that you need to lay on your side. Take a cushion with your or something. It just makes it that bit easier.

Pumpkin - nesting... I bloody hope so. I know that I should be grateful that baby is healthy (we hope) and that aside from the delights of SPD things have gone very well during the pregnancy, but am so sick of being in constant pain Feel very guilty for thinking like that but I really just want it over with now.

Mamma hope it goes well, come back and share your pearls of wisdom please!!

23 days maximum left... Just got to keep telling myself that...

how is everyone today? hope you have all had some relief. My long body pillow arrived this afternoon, am so excited to try it out!! how sad....

also saw the GP who is referring me for some physio after confirming SPD, hope the wait isnt too long. and my friend has leant me her support belt so i will give that a go.

was really stressed yesterday as our scan showed the baby had a small cyst on his/her right kidney. I was told this was nothing to worry about as everything else looked fine, but how can i not worry?? so we are going back in 4 weeks when the kidneys are bigger and doc can get a better look. i will make sure to mention the SPD so that i can hopefully lie on my side.

off to my mums for the weekend without DH or bubs so should be nice and relaxing. For me the hardest thing about the SPD is chasing after a 17 month old, i dont get how incredibly strong they are. had a right fight on my hands trying to get her in the car seat. agony! anyway enjoy your evenings everyone xx

Ooo Bella- enjoy your break. I know what you mean about 17 month olds. Easier said than done too when they tell you not to worry, but one day at a time...

ErikaMaye- don't feel bad for complaining. I was that way last time and this. It can't be helped, that's what makes it so frustrating. Again, take each day at a time and think about early induction...

Enjoy your break BYM - am distinctly jealous Hope the pillow helps, and that when you do see the physio they are more helpful than mine. Also, best wishes for the next scan. Monday is getting closer here and am starting to worry about what they'll say...

Pumpkin, thanks, that makes me feel a little better. Just with the SPD pains, my ME flaring up, and normal pregnancy pains... UGH.

Eyes on the prize, ladies, eyes on the prize

Belated thanks for replies to my query. After driving 2 days to work I decided it was the clutch on new car making my hip hurt and cycling would be better after all, but then after getting back on my bike had to decide just too pregnant now to cycle comfortably - desperate feeling that I am going to wee everywhere! (too much info?)

Anyway hip better after not driving for a few days but after the small bit of pain I've had big hugs to everyone who has proper SPD - must be hell.
