Does swine flu always involve a high temperature? 21 weeks pregnant and have most of the other symptoms

Am probably panicking about nothing but feeling horrendous and flu-ey but my temperature is still under 38. Otherwise achey, completely exhausted, sore throat, diarrhoea, loss of appetite etc

Pandemic website says pregnant women should call their GP but GP after hours number says people who think they might have swine flu should call the pandemic number!

Anyone got any experience of this? Is there something I should be doing now?

Yes, you can have swine flu without a temp.You should phone your GPs out of hours service and actually speak to a doctor. The pandemic hotline is operated by non medically trained people who read off a checklist. Hope you feel better soon.

Yes you can, I had this too when I was 20 weeks pregnant, all the symptoms bar the temp. Doctor said to take paracetamol regularly and rest, drink plenty of fluids etc. Felt really rough for a couple of weeks but its had no adverse effects on the baby and am now 37 weeks. Ring your GP for advise and take it easy. Try not to listen to all the scaremongering, just have lot's of rest like you would with normal flu, hope you feel better soon.

Thanks both - feeling marginally less rough today, so maybe it will just pass but will contact the GP if it gets worse.

Been told by doctor that the litmus test for Swine Flu is a high temperature.....you can have swine flu with no "cold like" symptoms, provided you have a high temperature and that achey body feeling.....you should feel too sick to go downstairs to pick a hundred pound note off the ground, and ideally be making your sheets wet with sweat!!!! (my doctor is very descriptive!!)....

I had swine flu a while ago when about 7/8 weeks pg. My temperature was high, 38ish but not very high (my DCs more like 39). Other symptoms were sore throat, cough, chills, aches and pains. Out of hours service told me to call the pandemic help line, but after I made a bit of a fuss, they had the on call obstetrician at the local hospital call me back to advise me.
