Positive stories about Subchorionic haemotoma or advice please

Im 9 weeks plus 3 days pregnant and was diagnosed on an ultrasound 2 weeks ago with a blood clot adjacent to the gestational sac..they also refer to it as an area of seperation..it measured 6 by 4 mm so was told not to worry..however on a scan today the clot is now measuring 11 by 5 mm and the sonographer told me this is not a good sign..I have been advised that the likely outc ome is miscarriage by 12 weeks and Im devastated..the baby looked happy and heathy today, bouncing around but you could see the clot next to its sac like a cloud of doom..Ive done nothing but cry since I got home..my last two pregs ended in late miscariages and I cant bear the thought of going through this again..Im looking for positive stories because googling just threw up the absoloute worst case scenarios, inc pre term death, still birth and placental abruption

Oh gosh you poor thing. Stop googling (says me who also did it) i got all the bad stories too it was awful. I had one and it was very small, they said it would either be reabsorbed or come away. They didnt mention that the pregnancy may end, they told me it should be ok. I bled for 2 weeks and then passed 2 clots and that was it thankfully. So far so good im 28 weeks now. Im sorry yours appears to have grown in size. Are you bleeding? It may still come away. I cant advise anymore as i don't know much about it other than what i was told by midwives. I hope yours clears up soon too. There are a few of us on here who have had them and they have cleared up on their own. Good luck x

thanks maybe..the last bleeding I had was a couple of weeks ago..so I was surprised to see it had grown..I know its not massive but the sonographer said it was significant

Poor you,it's very worrying I know. I was diagnosed with the same thing at around the same time (7 weeks-ish) - but I didn't know what it was called (I live in Italy and my doctor called it something like "placental detachment" which didn't sound reassuring - I am new to this pregnancy thing and had no idea what to expect!)

Anyway, I was told to take it very easy for a couple of weeks as there was a risk of miscarriage, so I did, and spent a lot of time at home lying down with very little exercise. Never had any bleeding at all.

Luckily it seems to have cleared up or shrunk back now, according to the ultrasounds I've had since, at 12 and 14 weeks.

I've heard it's very, very common and all you can do is rest and try not to worry. Good luck!

spaghettina-thank you ..I guess the thing that worried me is that it had got bigger..if it had stayed the same size..I probably wouldnt have worried so much..Im scared that it will get bigger and bigger..the prognosis from the sonographer was not hopeful

I had one of these about a year ago, and my 5 month old is now sitting on my knee as I type this so there is always hope.

I did have a massive stop start bleed over a couple of days, and the clot then sat there ominously above the egg sac for several weeks. The waiting and not knowing what would happen was just awful. I just tried to take each day as it came but it wasn't much fun. The EPU did give me a number of re-assurance scans though, I would have gone mad had it not been for this.

The clot was eventually re-absorbed, and there was no sign of it at my 12 week scan.

I had one too, and on-off spotting for the first trimester almost. They never said how big it was or that it was a problem (they never told me anything though), but it went away on its own. Lying around stopped the spotting, so prob good strategy.

well Ive done next to nothing for the last 2 weeks due to hyperemesis...so guess I got to just keep on doing nothing

any moving around would only aid a separation. Keep your feet up (I know it gets really thrilling after a while).

I must admit its a bit boring!..but Im resting as much as possible

memorylapse, with dd, I had spotting throughout my first trimester with subchorionic haematoma on my scans. One day around the 9 week mark, I had a major bleed (lots of red blood) which I thought was a miscarriage.

The scan showed the haematoma was still there and had grown rather big.

It got smaller and smaller thereafter and was completely gone a few weeks into the second trimester.

I had a subchorionic haematoma on the scan at 6 w 5 days after recurrent miscarriages.

Had a bleed at 8 weeks - I thought the worst.

Now sitting looking at my 2 2/1 week-old twins.
