NCT Sale - Maternity Clothes?

Hi

I've never been to an NCT sale and I'm thinking of going to one in November. I'm being asked to donate £3.50 for a sellers pack and I'll have some baby stuff to sell but I was wanting to sell my maternity clothes.

Would that be the sort of thing people would buy at the sale? I have tonnes of good quality and hardly worn maternity clothes from Mamas and Papas, Gap, M&S, Mothercare etc. (Work involved lots of meetings and socialising with clients and I had to dress smartly)

Just wondering before I go ahead and sign up as I don't want to go there and people only want to buy baby things.

Also - apart from ebay - any other places I could sell them?

I'd check with your local branch to see if they accept Maternity clothes before you fork out the £3.50.
My branch generally does not accept maternity clothes as they often did not sell and took up a chunk of our (fairly limited) floorspace which could be used for other more saleable stuff. However, there was a lady who sold second hand maternity wear as a business who would sometimes come out and buy the lot if she knew we were stocking it.

I brought Blooming Marvellous and JoJo Maman Bebe maternity wear to an NCT sale and brought nearly all of it home again. It was in mint condition and priced at £1 a dress.

To be honest, even baby and toddler clothes don't sell that well at my branch. I'd say 90 per cent of the clothes remain unsold.

What really shifts is baby equipment and high quality toys like Brio.

KA, see what your branch thinks. If you decide not to sell through the sale, Netmums seems to have local classified ads with things for sale - you'd get to keep what someone was willing to pay whereas with ebay a lot of money will go on postage and ebay/paypal fees.

There's a website which brings people who want to buy and sell maternity wear online together.

i think you'd be better to ebay it...

I hate ebay but it may be the way to go!

I went to an nct sale recently as wasn't expecting to find maternity clothes but there was a small rail full, and i bought loads as it is always so expensive, was really glad it was there as my wardrobe is much fuller now!!!

My maternity clothes are sizes 10 or 12, the GAP items are medium.

The jeans / trousers have a petite leg. I'm on the small side

Agree with others - I'd check with the branch. Our sale does have a good rack of maternity wear, but it is very hit & miss in terms of what sells (perhaps not too surprising given that someone has to be both your size, and have your taste in clothes )
10-12 is probably pretty safe - you might find your petite stuff doesnt sell as well (size 8-10 petite here!)

I have sold all my maternity suff on e-bay recently and made quite a lot of money, so I would say that was the way to go.

Make sure you sell in the right season though.

The smart stuff is winter or summer and a lot of the tops are all seasons.

I just cant face taking lots of pics and the hassle of uploading to ebay with descriptions.

I might sell the tops as a job lot on ebay and the dresses on their own.

I'm size 10! But have long legs, so trousers wouldn't fit. Would be interested in winter tops or skirts or dresses, though

I also need smartish stuff for work!
