Does anyone know what FHHK means? Also advice needed pre-eclampsia - Please Help worried

Hi I had pre eclampsia with my dd and am now 24 weeks. I started swelling up around 3 days ago and have had a headache for 2 days, went to day unit today and midwife said everything looks fine, took my notes away etc, sent home. Anyway looked in notes and midwife had wrote i had went with swelling in my feet, urm no its my whole body and hadnt even mentioned the headache, also bp was 130/90 which i would consider high as they used to admit with 90 + on bottom. Also she tookj a long time listening to heart beat and wrote fhhk i know fhh is fetal heartbeat heard but donr know what k means, it should be r if regular.

Anyone know what the k means and also advice on bp

I think it means she could hear fetal heart beat and also a fetal kick.

I am being monitored for bp at the moment and my bp has been higher than yours and I haven't been admitted - it wasn't until it reached 160/100 that I was admitted for monitoring for a night.

Not sure about the FHHK - could it just be badly written and it's supposed to be an 'r'?

If you had PE before then you should be monitoring you closely anyway. If you're still feeling bad on Monday, or if your headache/swelling etc gets worse tomorrow, then I would phone the hospital again.

Did they check for protein too?

If you are worried though - go to the hospital - better safe than sorry and I've had PET twice (both times the babies ended in caesarians and the latter with a prolonged hospital stay).

130/90 isn't that bad btw. But you should be having daily checks from now on if you have a PET history and are symptomatic / hypertensive. Do they have you on betablockers yet?

I had PET too and wasn't admitted unless BP was over 90, when it was 90 I got sent back home. I was later admitted with 160/120.

Thanks ladies you have put my mind at rest a bit, K could have meant kick cos it did kick her x

Wholovedmychocolate no they havent put me on beta blockers, i am going to midwife wednesday so will see what it is then x Just hate swelling up like a marshmallow man

Rest with you legs elevated and lie on your side if you can. Ask for a consultant review on Monday. You need to keep that baby in for as long as possible and that may me betablockers. They make you feel crappy though (but hey, think long term and it'll help).

There are a couple of websites that may provide some help. The first is APEC. They are good at providing a lot of information about the standard and quality of care you can expect. There is also another one pesupport.friendhood.net. I had pre eclampsia in my first pregnancy and was also afraid of developing it when I fell pregnant again. I got a lot of useful information from the above sites. Liz Pidgley at the pesupport website is very helpful. I found that it helped me to do things that made me feel more in control as I had felt so out of control first time round. I discovered that you can buy the urine test strips from Boots, although I did have to explain to the pharmacist that I knew what the results would mean. Also, you can buy a blood pressure monitor that is calibrated for use during pregnancy (most are not suitable because you have more blood when you are pregnant and that means that their calculations are wrong). Liz would be able to give you details of the blood pressure monitor.
