Recalled for Urine test. What does this mean?

I attended ANC about a wek ago and in my sample the midwife detected something that she wanted to have checked. Today i recieved a letter saying thet the sample had shown 'Mixed Growth' and i had to do another one. I am 14wks pregnant and a little concerned. What does Mixed Growth mean? Any ideas?

What ruby said. I got told that you should wipe before giving a sample as well as after, so you don't give a sample of discharge by mistake. Even if it is an infection, it could have just been mild and drinking plenty of water will flush it out. Pg women get wee infections like they are going out of fashion, and if they are caught quickly are no problem. Do get it checked out though, as if left they can get much worse.

Same thing happened to me after urine test at 12 booking-in app and I was asked to do another sample. So when I had my 16 week check with an obstetrician (had it at 14 weeks due to being on holidays at 16 weeks), he did another test which was all clear. He explained that it's quite common and nearly always just to do with a contaminated sample (so could be vaginal discharge or a contaminated container). But of course the need to check is because it's possible to have a UTI and no symptoms.

Try not to worry, as it's most likely to be fine.

i'm going through a similar experience i have done 2 tests and they want a 3rd one next week. Mine had white blood cells but no growth, so i'm not sure what mixed growth is. The midwife didnt seem concerned at all by it but i like you dont really understand so i'm going to call her again on monday to try and get her to explain it to me! the midwife and the doctors receptionist did say that its common for pregnant women to get these recalls. I like you was v concerned when i got the letter but try not to worry i think they dont think there is enough of a problem to prescribe anything they just want to keep an eye on us and like the others said could also be contamination.
