Weight gain twin pregnancy

I am 13 weeks pregnant with twins. I'm fit and healthy and eating small but nutritious meals, but I keep reading about how important it is to be putting on weight. Thing is that I feel full all the time and have gone off all my usual treats, so I've actually lost about 5lbs. Is this normal?

I don't know what's 'normal' - I had a singleton pregnancy last time and gained about 3 stone in total. But this time I'm 24 weeks and 'only' gained 4 lbs (yet the babies alone apparently weigh just under that) - I'm convinced I'm actually losing weight, which is no bad thing , because of sickness and lack of appetite.

if its any use to u, ive put on 18kg so far (EEEK) im 37 weeks+1. i was healthweight of 60kg beforei was preg, however, it does all seem to be baby, and have not put much weight on elsewhere. i lost a bit of weight to begin with all the extra twin assocciated sickness. i think they say upto 50lb is normal. Good luck

It's still early days for you, and everyone is different, surely? What you're doing sounds fine. You are the expert here, or rather your body knows what it's doing, so stop worrying!

I have heard that it is important to eat high protein meals in the last trimester to maximise babys' weights. friend who did this carried twins to 39 weeks (induction) with combined weight of over 16 lbs
