Contractions at 18 weeks?

My bump has been going hard since about 3 this afternoon. On and off in waves. It was hurting up the top at first but now it's hurting down the bottom like very bad period pain.

It's DC2 so I should know, but what's going on?

Could they be Braxton Hicks contractions?

Could be, I can't really remember them from first pregnancy. I'm so uncomfortable

I had something similar a few weeks back when I was 22wks. I posted, everyone told me to call MW just to be sure - which I recommend you do. It's unlikely to be BH this early - that's the standard response. My turned out to be IBS spasms which feel very much like period cramps and affect the bump (ie tightenings). Was prescribed some anti-spasm pills and also upped my diet with loads of fibre, prune juice daily etc - which I have to say has eased everything loads!

If in doubt and certainly if in pain, call someone, they won't mind!

i had braxton hicks from very early on with dd and regularly all the way through the pregnancy. but to be on the safe side, i'd just pop to the midwife or gp to make sure.

I'm 19 weeks and had my first Braxton Hicks last week. They're not painfully but they're definitely contractions because the uterus goes rock hard
