I know theory says labor might start earlier the 2nd time around, so is that actually the case?

I was overdue last time and very sincerely hope it won't happen again....

First time +4 days
Second time on due day
When are you due?

girlsyearapart · 19/09/2009 08:38

First time on due date labour 6 hours
Second time started 11 days early baby born ten days early labour 3 hours

Purplerizla · 19/09/2009 10:02

my first was 3 days early and in labour for 17 hours, my second was 5 days early and labour was only 2 hours, although i do believe it was quicker due to not using any pain relief the second time round, 2 pushes and he was out.

ThePhantomPlopper · 19/09/2009 10:06

first - due date, 23 hours labour.
second - 1 week late, 9 hour labour.

CrouchingTigerFeetHiddenBaby · 19/09/2009 10:15

First - went into labour at T+3, 12ish hours established labour

Second - still waiting at T+7

francagoestohollywood · 19/09/2009 10:19

First was 2 days late
Second was 2 days late.
Both labours in daytime, both times waters broke at the very end.

ScummyMummy · 19/09/2009 10:44

first time (with my twins) waters broke at 41+6 and I was induced after contractions showed no signs of starting
2nd time labour started spontaneously at 41 weeks

I read some research somewhere or other that caucasian women tend on average to have slightly longer gestations than asian and black women. Not sure if it was reliable peer reviewed research though!

francagoestohollywood · 19/09/2009 10:49

Oi Scummy, congratulations!!! bOy or girl? I missed it! (nosey)

hazeyjane · 19/09/2009 10:50

For me, sooner

No1 was 4 days early

No2 was 10 days early

No 3 ( I know you didn't ask) was induced 3 weeks early!!

I just got earlier and never went over, to the envy of all my overdue pals!

pippel · 19/09/2009 13:28

dd1 38 weeks
dd2 39 plus 4

I was completely sick by that point! I had convinced myself second babies come earlier

IdrisTheDragon · 19/09/2009 13:39

DS 38+3

DD 40+4

The last two weeks felt very long.

ilikeyoursleeves · 19/09/2009 13:51

DS1 born at 38+1 after a four day labour (!)

DS2 born at 39+4 after a 6 hour labour (!!!!!!!!) onto my SIL's bathroom floor. WARNING- second labours can be a lot quicker!

Good luck!

Bump02 · 19/09/2009 14:20

DS was born 38 weeks and we were all done in 12 hours.

Now 8 years on and I'm expecting another bubba this December.

Not sure if having the big age gap is going to make a difference? Am kind of hoping it'll be quicker!

Good luck x

lilibet · 19/09/2009 14:21

Dd due 21st Dec, labour started 2.10 am on the 14th Dec

Ds1 due 30th May, labour started 2.10 am on the 23rd May

Ds2 due on the 29th November, so at 2.10 am on the 22nd, there I was sat up in bed waiting.............

Labour started on the 28th!

Comma2 · 19/09/2009 14:46

Oh no, that doesn't sound very consistent! Some funny stories though (and twins at 41 plus??????? God, I'll never complain again.)

My first arrived on his due date after a 38 hour labour, second arrived the day after her due date after a 5 hour labour, my third arrived at 40+1 after a 3 hour labour (almost had him in the car park!). Hoping this one is on time-ish again -it's quite nice being able to sort of plan backup childcare!!

GreenMonkies · 20/09/2009 08:46

Both mine popped at 39+5.
