My brother's wife's just got pregnant for the first time and he'd like to get more involved in the whole thing, which is nice I've come across a few sites but any recommendations welcome

I added one to the Webguide a little while ago called "Dads' Haven". It's towards the bottom of the page.

SoupDragon · 04/06/2005 11:23

Didn't a Mumsnetter called "Tom" have his own dads' site??

SoupDragon · 04/06/2005 11:25

Ah yes, Fathers Direct

lemonice · 04/06/2005 11:26

hub2dee should start one I reckon...

SoupDragon · 04/06/2005 11:31

Maybe he should set up a brother-site called dadsnet.com

franch · 04/06/2005 11:37

Yes!!! I'll get him on to it Thanks for the link Soupy

I think most others pail in comparison to MN.

franch · 04/06/2005 13:10

Hmm, have had a look and I have to agree, hub

I know it's nice to talk about boobs and bits and mayaaans, but I think BIL would find the info and support (and fun) on here better than elsewhere.

I also think the best advice on equipment (buggies / nappies / cots / highchairs) as well as things like feeding / sleeping / crying / development / PND / birth etc. is on MN - both in the 'official' MN reviews and in the Talk community.

An area for dads was mooted a little while back but I don't think there's enough blokes regularly posting to make it work IYSWIM, but maybe it's a chicken and egg situation...

SoupDragon · 04/06/2005 14:37

And the mums would just barge right in anyway

SoupDragon · 04/06/2005 14:38

I think the only reason MN is better than the dads' sites is the sheer volume of chat. I can't think of why a site comprised of X thousand women would be full of chat though...

franch · 04/06/2005 15:33

I know there used to be chat on FathersDirect, Soupy, but I can't find the forum any more? The forum on Dad's Haven seems pretty dead.

This website !!!!!!

dh found mn for me when we found out we were pregnant at 4weeks and in fact he used it on a daily basis. He even updated me with other mn's stories. Now we are the proud parents of a 3 week old girl and we both still use it. In fact it was dh who suggested i move onto the postnatal threads !!!

A dads room on Mumsnet, not somewhere I would want to visit.

I like the odds here, 20,000 to 1, its so refreshing not to have to deal with the male ego

lemonice · 07/06/2005 17:59

I think dads room would be an excellent board to visit..

suprise · 07/06/2005 18:37

!!

franch · 09/06/2005 19:35

I see Huggies have just set this up - bit quiet so far .......
