Can ultrasound scan tell gender at 15 weeks?

Hi

Our sonographer guessed the gender of our baby at 15.1 weeks. Does anyone know how accurate this could be? Anyone else had this experience?

She predicted a boy, I don't mind either way but wondered how sure we can be at this stage.

Thanks

its still early days as ls and boys bits all look same to begin with. i had 2 early scans at 16 1/2 weeks and they predicted girl both times and then again at 20 weeks they predicted a girl, hopefully within 2 wks we will see!!

It is possible, but obviously margin for error is greater.

We were told at 12 weeks we were having a girl, but didn't really dwell on it. Then at 20 weeks we were told girl again.

As we have 2 boys, part of me still won't believe it until she's born!

We were told we are expecting a little girl at our 15 week scan, and it was confirmed at 20 weeks.

My last pg I had a gender scan at 16 weeks. It was accurate, she's here now.

Hi , we had a scan at 11 weeks and were told that we were having a girl ...the sonographer sad he was totally sure as he scanned so many babies he knew the way they "behaved"

I thought it seemed amazing and arrogant at the time, but he was right !!

um, I was told at 17 weeks that ours was a girl - then at 20 weeks and 38 weeks, definitely a boy, look, there's his bits
admittedly the 17 week scan was done by a doctor in a hurry, and the 2 subsequent scans by sonographers who took their time - but it does mean that we're not 100% sure which to believe, and we're eagerly anticipating his/her birth now!

I was told I was definitely having a girl at 12 weeks, and they were right.

Thanks so much everyone, just hoping little one has legs dangling in air at the next scan so we can get a proper look, I don't want to bond too quickly thinking it's one gender but turns out to be another, I suppose it depends on the experience of the sonographer too but we will know hopefully in a few weeks x

Hi mumbot. Someone posted a great link on here a few weeks ago to a lecture on sexing the baby at early scans. It was in French but you could understand from the diagrams. Unfortunately can't find it now. It's to do with the angle of the bits. Even though their bits look similar early on girl's bits and boy's bits have a different angle to the body. Think it's more accurate if they think it's a boy though.
