epidural, am i able to have one?

i have heard that if you have a tatoo on your lower back you cant have an epidural. im not saying i actually want one, im only 17 weeks and havent even thought through what type of birth im going to have and what is the best. but i guess would like to know what options are open to me.

That's not true.

Who came up with that?! I've got a tattoo (yeah, yeah tramp stamp, whatever), and I had an epidural. Not once were the two ever brought up in conversation.

i honestly dont know what i want or whats the best. the thought of the birth fills me with dread! iv been told many horror stories, and im not great with hospitals, blood etc. whole thing just terrifies me!
