DD - I craved mini milk ice lollies (hence the name ) and cheese

Currently pg with DS - lots & lots of doughnuts and fruit juice, and can't stand smell of strong cheese (which I usually love ) or roast chicken

ds1 bolognese, loads of fruit and chocolate(couldn't stand the sight or smell of fish)

ds2 kidney beans , fish (especially smoked trout and smoked salmon) and mixed leaf salad but absolutely had to have kidney beans every night oh and i couldn't get enough oranges and hot chocolate in the first few months

Cluckadoodledoo · 01/09/2009 09:47

ReneRusso · 01/09/2009 09:49

DD1 - chicken noodle soup
DD2 - minced beef, bolognese

TotallyAndUtterlyPaninied · 01/09/2009 10:45

DS1- cream, butter, bread, orange juice (between 4-8 pints a night!!)

This pregnanacy- cream, prawns, broccoli, but I haven't 'craved' like last time. McDonalds and egg and chips has never tasted so good though. I reckon this one is a girl.

I have gone off: curry, spices, flavours, cheese, chicken, heavy food, carbs, oily foods. I went off these with DS, too.

Have been told it's a boy (will find out for sure in a couple of weeks!), and I've been craving fruit, gingerbread, marmite, potatoes, and banana-flavoured milkshake (not actual bananas, just banana nesquick).
I've totally gone off chicken, to the extent that just seeing it in the supermarket makes me heave.

Interesting thread. I had very weird cravings during my first two pregnancies: with DD I loved sniffing creosote and with DS smelling and chewing coffee grounds. I reassure you I am normally fairly sane. This time round (19 weeks) nothing that odd so far. My husband is quite disappointed and I am relieved.

HOWEVER in my humble experience the thing about sweet cravings for a girl and savoury for a boy does not add up at all. I am expecting a girl and have generally been into savoury things. I have this thing about tomato sauce based recipes which I also had with my DS. I love tomato sauce! Incidentally when pregnant with DS I was much more into sugary stuff.

All very mysterious.

Girl: Banana milkshake. Prawn crips.

expecting another DC and have same cravings.

Daisydaydream · 08/09/2009 13:31

Bath sponges. Scratchet and WB you are not alone! All I wanted for several months was cold water from a bath sponge, I even kept one at work as I was nearly going crazy by the time I got home. Didn't tell hubby for a long time as I thought he would think I was bonkers, when I told him he just said 'humph, pregnancy is weird!' I also loved crunching ice cubes too. I had a boy btw!

Gateau · 08/09/2009 14:36

With DS I had slight cravings for rubber and with this pg (am now 33 weeks)I have a REALLY strong craving for it.
I need to qualify that, don't I? It's just the SMELL of it I love, it's not that I want DH to strut about the house in a wetsuit, that I promise you!!
For instance, I deliberately go into hardware shops and shoe shops for a good sniff and also sniff the rubber soles of my DS's little water shoes. Honest!! .
I also crave ice cubes; this and other odd cravings I have read are described as 'pica' and can be linked to an iron deficiency - which I do/did have and am now taking iron supplements for.

scroobiuspirate · 08/09/2009 14:38

with dd i had to have fresh orange juice, anything sour.

the thought of curry (which i normally love) made me very green!!

Iklboo · 08/09/2009 14:40

With DS it was orange juice (1st 3 months) then onions, garlic (especially Bernard Matthews Mini Kievs ), pickled onions, Twix, salt & vinegar crisps

Not altogether obviously.

DS is a big fan of mini kievs, garlic, onions & salt & vinegar crisps (well, on the rare occasions he has kievs or crisps he wolfs them down saying 'these are yummy mummy')

MoreCrackThanHarlem · 08/09/2009 14:40

Ice, when pg with dd.
