If I know I ovulated late, what should I tell midwife at booking in?

Hello everybody! I have just found out I'm pregnant with second DC. So excited but nervous too as very early days and I don't feel pregnant at all!

Anyway, I ovulated about a week/ten days late this month. So if they base the due date on the date of my last period, it will be out. Can someone just remind me, will they adjust the due date at the dating scan, or continue to base it on the date of my last period throughout the pregnancy?

I am mainly concerned about this because my DD was late and I was induced. If they didn't take account of the actual conception date for this one, they might consider the baby overdue before my 'real' due date and I don't want that! I know it's a long way off and we have a journey before then though!

midwife probably won't be too interested. they will do the dating at the scan.

I had my booking appointment yesterday, and knowing that they measure your due dates using the little wheel based on a 14-day period I just calculated when the first day of my last period "should" have been, (not when it actually was) and told them that date so that they came up with an EDD the same I I have calculated. My EDD is based on when I know I ovulated from my temperature charts, and it was late as it was the first one after a MC.
Hope that makes sense!
But as EBC says, you will get the dating scans too.

Antiquarian - same happened to me - first baby, now 26 weeks. I thought this was the case as I got a positive on day 39, and taking that as about 14dpo, would have meant I ovulated on day 25ish. GP/midwife weren't interested at all. They said the scan would reveal all - which it did - I was right.

It annoyed me when they kept saying I was 10 days/ 2 weeks further along than I was when I was sure I wasn't but perhaps that's just the control freak in me . I had a private scan at 8+3 which I then told them about (having had my booking in appt booked for earlier than normal due to my false dates. I then had to change my "12 week" scan date as I would only have been 10 1/2 or something). If they scan you at "12 weeks" and you are not as far along, and outside nuchal fold timings, assuming they do that as your hospital, I think they just have you back again for another scan.

I would lie to MW, to get the scan when it should be.
Shift my LMP forward by 10 days, smile blithely and say "Yes I have a regular 28 day cycle" when she asks.
Saves so much bother.

Good idea Antiquarian, but they still might give you a different date according to the dating scan. My official date is 8 days ahead of my real date and hospital & midwives all go by scan date. It is annoying and I have had to argue to get my C-section scheduled for a safe date (after the real 38 weeks).

Hello lazylion. That's interesting. I am pretty sure when I ovulated (within two days or so), so if the same thing happens to me, will be aware of it. I'm just determined to know when my 'real' due date is this time, so I don't get pressured into another horrible induction! Assuming I get that far (feeling superstitious at only four weeks preg!)

Did you use ovulation predictors Antiquarian?
For my whole pregnancy I have had to have two dates in mind - the real one and the one everyone else was going by. When it got to the day my c-section was being scheduled I only convinced the consultant of my real date because I had used an ovulation predictor.

I did just what you plan to and invented an lmp date. Scan tallied exactly with when I ovulated and the fake lmp date. My actual lmp would have made a week's difference and I didn't want to take the risk that the scan wouldn't be contradictory enough for them to change the date. I too had possible induction in mind.

Hello again lazylion. Well, what happened is I normally do temp charting, and when I should have ovulated I didn't (no temp rise). I was very tired and stressed. A week or so later we were on holiday (no thermometer or fertility friend) and suddenly a bit of EWCM appeared (sorry if TMI), so we did a bit of BD, and two weeks later, a BFP! So I'm not absolutely sure which day it was I ovulated but am pretty sure within a day or two I think! But don't expect that this long story will be fully appreciated in the clinic!

I'm the same - I know when I ovulated as I used OPKs. I said this to MW at my booking in scan a couple of weeks ago, she wasn't interested in the least, just said it would show up on the dating scan.

My dating scan is actually at 13+5 weeks (according to the official figures), as we're on holiday before that, so about 12+3 according to my (more accurate ) dates.

Blooming annoying though, that with advances in ovulation awareness, they don't trust mums to be a bit more.

For us, it was the other way around - ds1 was 3 weeks early (I think he was actually over 4 weeks early). Anyways. Congratulations by the way

I was going to do what others have suggested, and make up a LMP that would fit with ovulation. I am still confused about mine - I am 28 weeks now, and was temping and using OPKs. Had a definite temp rise at CD20 so thought I should be a week or so less pregnant than my LMP suggested. However, all my scans (6+5, 11+6, 13+3 and 21+4) have ALL agreed with my LMP date, even when in the case of the first scan, I didn't tell them a date I thought temping was meant to be accurate?
Anyway, just thought I would share this, as it's not always quite as clear cut as you might think. Congrats!

I have a 35 day cycle so my DC's were always thought to be more overdue than they actually were.
For DS I actually told the consultant and he was then happy for me to go a few more days over without being induced (was induced with DD1)
I wasn't induced with my following 2 DC's and all were 2 weeks late.
