INSOMNIA in Pregnancy! Argh! Help meeee!

I am 12 weeks pregnant, for at least the last month I have slept terribly at night. I expect to get up to wee but aside from that I just can't sleep properly. I g to bed aand sleep a bit then I wake up and spend the rest of the night trying to drop off again. I occasionally drop off but then only sleep lightly, have a weird dream and wake again, this repeats itself several times and I just toss and turn till morning where I get up exhausted.

I manage a morning nap when ds (22mo) has his but it's never long enough and i'm getting more and more tired every day.

I've cut out caffene(sp?), bought a thinner duvet so I don't get too hot and have been drinking horlicks before bed but nothing helps!

Any suggestions???

Not from me, but as a fellow sufferer I want to know too

You poor thing. I used to sleep like the dead before pg - now I'm realising with DS here that sleep like that is a thing of the past.

My sleeplessness wasn't as bad as yours, but what I found worked for me was going to sit in bed in the spare room (appreciate you might not have one of those, but it was snug during the winter when I was pg) and read a good book for 20 minutes or so. That actually used to do the trick for me, I think partly because it distacts your brain.

Also, warm baths and milky drinks tried here, but not sure if they helped.

Yeah suppose I could try the readin till I drop off again thing. I tend just to lie there with my eyes closed cause I just wanna sleeeeep!

I had this earlier in my PG and found that listening to a relaxing CD or music through headphones helped me to drift off again.

Hadn't thought of that sazlocks, I have got some pg relaxation/hypnotherapy cds from last time... Might try that, thanks!
