Would twins show up on a scan at 6 weeks?

As per title really, I had a scan at 6 weeks and heatbeat was found. Would it have been apparent then if I was carrying more than one child? Sorry if this is a really stupid question...!

mumto I had an early scan at 7 weeks and they were able to tell me there was only one.........HTH

Both of my twins showed up at 6w5d.

I think it is likely that another sac would have been seen, even if they didn't both yet show a heartbeat.

having said that, was there any reason for the sonographer to look for a second sac? (eg fertility treatment)? I think it would be possible to miss a twin at this stage if the sonographer wasn't very thorough!

There was no reason to look for two, but it sounds like from what both of you are saying that it is fairly likely that if there were two it would have been noticed.

For some strange reason I had a feeling I might be carrying twins, but seeing as I've already had a scan, it's probably a bit daft of me continuing to think it!

They should show up but I have read about people who had an early scan showing 1 and then a 12 week scan showing 2!!

I only had my first scan at 12 weeks and twin 2 didnt show up until she was "checking that there were no more in there"
It actually looked as if the screen flickered as they were lay in identical positions lol

I had a scan at about 6 weeks and there was 2.

Just to say that my sisters twins were missed at a 7 week ish scan! They had a bit of a shock at the 16 week scan! So these things can happen.

Londonlottie My boy/girl twins are nearly 3 weeks old now and are a joy They are actually easier to look after than my 3 year old ever has been.
Trust me once yours arrive you will never look back x

Sorry to hijack but I just wondered if u had any idea from ur pregnancy sypmtoms that u were expecting twins or maybe a feeling? Just had a bfp and have feeling am having twin girls????? This is my third pregnancy but they only time I have had an early bfp two days before period due and have been having strong symptoms over the past week! Tell me I am insane ! Previously normally get my bfp after four days late! Good luck with ur pregnancies x
