Bad PND, pregnant again and doctors won't let me have ADs

I was on Fluoxetine. Doctor stopped it immediately, I asked the midwife and she said she'd known pregnant ladies have it before. So she asked the consultant who said no I can't have it.

I'm really down, stressed, anxious, upset all the time. I can't sleep because I have panic attacks in the night. I'm going back to work in less than 2 weeks and I'm terrified how I'm going to cope.

What can I do?

go back to GP, explain how bad you feel, see if they will reconsider. if not lobby GP and/or midwife for a psychiatric referral. My GP was useless when I needed Prozac when PG, fortunately hospital were great - the consultant wouldn't prescribe Prozac for me, but referred me to a psychiatrist who did.

Keep going back, every few days if you have to. Ask to see a different GP. I also find bursting into tears in their office helpful. Am on your behalf. There are plenty of us who take ADs during pregnancy, and you're clearly high risk for antenatal and post-natal depression. Fluoxetine was the first thing they tried me on as I believe it has been studied the most in pregnancy.

sorry you're going through this - my gp told me to come of my AD's when I got pregnant but I refused and after that he seemed to be quite supportive and has even supported me having to increase the dose as the pregnancy increased. You shouldn't have to be like this. Hope you get something sorted - I would try to get an appointment today and say it is urgent. And sadly I find Yanks method of crying really works - it shouldn't but it does.

Go and see another doctor at your surgery. Say you cannot cope without ADs and can you try a different type. There are loads out there. I am currently on citalopram.
