I have two wonderful boys and am now expecting my third child. I read somewhere that if you have two of the same sex, you are more likely to get the same again, does anyone know if this is true?

hi
I had heard that as well.........am similarly pregnant 3rd time with 2 boys. Someone told me recently that the odds change slightly each time but I have no idea if this is an old wives tale?
I guess you just get given what you get given.....3 boys would work for us, no more clothes to buy, DH can take them all out!
Are you going to find out sex?

Disenchanted3 · 12/08/2009 14:58

i had 2 boys then a girl

LadyGlencoraPalliser · 12/08/2009 14:59

Well, I have three girls...

Pinkjenny · 12/08/2009 15:04

I have two friends who had two boys and then a girl.

mummy2t · 12/08/2009 15:18

i have 2 beautiul boys and am now 33 weeks pregnant with a little girl xxxxx

RedDeadFail · 12/08/2009 15:27

Somebody linked to the actual stats once. You are only marginally more likely to have a baby of the same gender. Nothing in it really.

RedDeadFail · 12/08/2009 15:30

Here

"The odds of having a girl seem to decrease after having each boy, but only very slightly. Even after 3 boys, you are only 6.4% more likely to have a 4th boy than a girl."

SoupDragon · 12/08/2009 15:35

The stats only change because they are affected by those couples genetically predisposed to having more of one sex. If you don't have this then your chances are the same as they always were - not quite 50/50

Look at your families - do you have a large bias towards boys? If, say, there have been no girls born in your partner's family then your chances of a girl are probably low.

I have 2 boys and then a girl and I am a female thirdborn with 2 older brothers

stuffitlllama · 12/08/2009 15:39

no, eighty per cent chance of it being a different sex I heard

after three the same, eighty per cent chance it will be the same again

BertieBotts · 12/08/2009 15:42

It is the sperm which defines the sex of the baby, and yes, I have read that if a man has all/mainly children of the same sex there is a chance his sperm of the opposite sex are "weaker".

I think it's just a theory though.

Scorps · 12/08/2009 15:44

I had two boys; a girl, now pg again with another girl

Ninni · 12/08/2009 15:45

I'd be delighted with 3 boys, just curious! Seems more random than not... Won't find out sex, it will be a lovely surprise!

I read an article on this that said if you have two children of the same sex the likelyhood of the third being the same sex is 75%. Not sure how accurate this is of course.

becklespeckle · 12/08/2009 15:57

Think it might be an old wives tale although had heard this.

I had a DD after 2 great DSs

Dozymare · 12/08/2009 16:02

I also had a DD after 2 DS's!!

ABitBatty · 12/08/2009 16:10

I have 3 DS's

wigglybeezer · 12/08/2009 16:13

Well I had three boys, but around the same time I knew of about eight couples (including me actually) who had two boys and then a girl, I did feel a bit annoyed at the time if I'm honest but don't mind now.
i found out the sex as had to have an amnio, quite glad to have the chance to get my head round it .

sweetkitty · 12/08/2009 16:14

Insanitybecomesme · 12/08/2009 17:03
