I have just found this forum - I need some support! I have a 13 month old son and have just found out I'm expecting again. Was getting v big v fast so had scan today to show Quintuplets due end of December. What the hell am I going to do?? How can I cope with this many children (I'm 21 and we have no family around). How will we afford it (DH is a self employed gardener and I'm a SAHM). Am scared DS is going to be overshadowed too. And how am I going to carry 5 babies for long enough for them to be healthy? Dr thinks bedrest from 24 weeks - but what about ds? This is madness it can't be real. DH is overjoyed but i don't think reality is sinking in yet. Please help me stay sane and think straight....

hi- firstly, good luck with whatever you decide/happens. In tonight's Evening Standard there is an article about a women in Texas who has had identical quads! And I think she has a four year told too (can't remember age and boss has taken his paper back!) She is just taking two of girls home, and two are staying in hospital a little while longer. Good luck!

Sorry it was the Dionne Quintuplets film I was thinking about not sextuplets. I don't know if you have googled Quinty but there are lots of stories of surving quins and sextuplets. The Hayes story is amazing as well as the Gosselins both to have had 6 babies and twins before. There is a website dedicated to the Brown Quins who were born 7weeks prem but were all over 2lbs. Sorry to go on mutiple births are a real interesting subject.

Quinty, please don't leave. You will get a lot of support here, I promise. Like people have said, there has been a lot of funny activity on here, which is why people are more suspicous. I for one want to be able to help if possible. x

I smell a rat!

tiffini · 02/06/2005 14:57

I dont think there is anything fishy about this, unless she has done alot of research.

Give the girl a break.

Sadly we decided after seeing a specialist that the babies and I would have best chance if we went through with a reduction. They wanted to terminate three fraternal babies and leave us with identical twins. We managed to convince them to leave three and went through with the procedure last saturday.

We were heartbroken and I couldn't find any happiness knowing i still had some of my babies. Then on Sunday night I started to bleed heavily and we realised something wasn't right. I had another scan on Tuesday and there are no heartbeats. At the moment we are devastated and am just trying to get on for the sake of our son. I feel so guilty. They were all alive and healthy last week and we let them down. I wish I could go back and give them a chance.

Thanks to everyone who gave suggestions and offered support. Mumsnet seems to have lot of lovely people. I will post under another name in future - I can't be 'quinty' now my babies have gone.

I know that people who are more eloquent than me will post but I am so so sorry for you and your family going thru this ordeal. All I can say is that you must never blame yourself for what has happened. You could only follow the advice that you were given.

Thinking of you all

loads of love and hugs

lili xx

Marina · 02/06/2005 15:29

quinty, what devastating news . I am so sorry to hear of the death of your quins. Do come back to us when you are feeling strong enough. There is a lot of support on here for people whose babies have died.
You don't need anyone to tell you that you were advised to have this procedure by medical professionals. You were doing what you believed to be the best thing, like any responsible parent. Sending you much sympathy XXX

mancmum · 02/06/2005 15:30

I am so so sad for you - know a tiny tiny bit of how you are feeling when I lost my DDs twin the sight of him without a heartbeat and finding we had lost him still hurts me everyday and so I can not imagine how it feels to have lost 5... I get a huge amount of strenght from my kids and so I hope your DS will provide you with comfort...

horseshoe · 02/06/2005 15:36

Oh quinty, you've been through so much. Please remember that you have every right to whatever feelings you may have, for as long as you have them. Don't tell yourself to cheer up, or that you should be over it by now, or anything else like that. Give yourself permission to mourn properly. big hugs ((()))

suedonim · 02/06/2005 16:08

I'm so sorry to hear your sad news, Quinty. Don't feel guilty about it, you did your best and no one can ask for more. Take care.
