Message from a worried dad (hoping to be second time around!):

I wood stained our floor with a solvent based stain today, while my pregnant partner was in the house. Now I'm worried!

She was upstairs - door closed window open, floor stain in the hall downstairs.

Should we worry? Or am I being paranoid? I thought this would be easier a second time around!

Thanks!

She'll be fine.

Lots of pregnant women go mad towards the end of things and paint rooms, hang doors, sand floors etc (I know I went insane and had to paint the spare room ceiling...), they are much closer to the fumes and are ok.

Don't worry!

I stained and varnished all our upstairs floors while pregnant with dd. I did wear a proper ventilator with fume filters on while I was doing it, but I slept in the house without the darth vader get up. DD is fine.

When we did our sitting room floor I did send dd away to granny's for two nights though, just because her lungs were so much smaller and still developing. Am planning to send her away again when we do the rest of the downstairs, but, I'm pregnant again, and it will be me doing the job...
