Did I see 'boys bits' on ultrasound??!!

Just has my 20 week scan and really didn't want to find out if I was having a boy or girl but the doc took sooooooooooo long measuring the thigh bones and looking about in that general area im convinced I saw boy bits!! (have compared them with pics on the web)Feel upset that I have now ruined the surprise . How accurate do you think that is?? Have I just interpreted a bit of umbilical cord etc as boy bits?????? Has anyone else thought they saw boy bits and ended up having a girl??

well bearing in mind that fully trained sonographers get it wrong sometimes i wouldn't be too sure you saw what you think you saw!

I saw boys bits on ours, a willy, I was convinced. Thought we were having a boy until DD came along!

They sex the baby in cross section so boy bits look like a little turtle and girl bits look like a little coffee bean/burger (three white lines)
I looked at some pics online before the last scan and asked to see before being told and it was very obvious we are having a girl but I do think you need to know what you are looking for beforehand (proven by DH who thought a leg was a turtle in profile when I was quite clearly looking at a burger ha ha)

i saw boy bits, you can see boy bits on the scan photo too, i had a boy (but then, i asked at the scan and they confirmed it was a boy)

a friend said she didn't want to know the sex, but thought they saw boy bits on the scan. spent the rest of the pregnancy thinking it was a boy, picked a boys name, gave birth to a girl!

I'm another one who was convinced she saw testicles on the scan - but then was told it was a girl...

I saw boy bits as did my friend but both had a dd. I think it is just as likely umbilical cord as a willy. So wait and see.

what exactly did you see?, my friend i mentioned earlier thought she'd seen 2 round things, like testicles, but they obviously weren't as hers turned out to be a girl.

don't do anymore googling, you'll only be sending yourself in circles. self diagnosis, so to speak, can never bring any good. don't forget, the sonographer will have scanned that area checking out the bladder, kidneys etc, that could have been what you saw.

It looked like a little turtle thing between the legs!! .. she was scanning from below the legs looking upward at the thighs (if that makes sense??).
Wouls I be able to see umbilical cord from that angle and mistake it for a boy??

I thought I saw boy bits when I was pg with DD1, until the sonographer explained that girl bits are much larger than you could expect in babies, as they are filled with fluid? When I looked again, she pinpointed the clitoris and labia, and they were heeooge! So much so, I thought it was a willy with testies on the sides.

DD1 came along, so er...definitely girl bits! (and her bits are, how shall I say...normally sized now ).

Well I did think I saw boy bits at my 16 week scan with DS, and on checking at the 20 week scan he did indeed turn out to be a DS. But without checking at the 20 week scan I certainly wouldn't have taken my glimpse at the earlier scan as any kind of reliable indication.
