It wasn't just me. In fact there's one thread in archives that got past 1000 posts and many, many more besides.
And not a one of them was warned by their GP or FPC of the potential for negative side effects, in fact a great many were fobbed off for months by their healthcare professionals; told the Mirena couldn't cause side effects like mood swings, acne, weight gain, irregular bleeding or loss of libido, even though the leaflet that actually comes with it lists such potential side effects. Some were put on anti-depressants or believed themselves to be going insane.
It is hard sold as the fix-all for everything and you'll not have periods and it's better than sterilisation etc. etc.
And the fact that women need to be aware of is that it is NOT.
For a not insignificant percentage of users.
It's the only contraception I've ever used where I was never warned about potential side effects, even told it didn't carry any.
