Piles + Braxton Hicks = utter agony

I want an epidural now! I'm only 31 weeks, how am I going to survive another 9 or 10? I would honestly rather be in labour right now. Supposed to be working from home today but think I need to change it to a sick day.

Is there anything I can beg my GP for as hot baths / ice packs / anusol aren't helping and I can't sit or stand or move without horrible pain and when Braxtons kick off or baby moves I feel like I am being buggered with a red hot poker.

Thanks

I'm 31 weeks too and am totally with you on wanting it out now!

Am also suffering from piles (they never really went since my last pg 2.5 years ago), however they don't sound nearly as bad as yours. Have you tried Preparation H? I've found it much better as shrinking the swelling than anusol. I've also used baby barrier cream (Waitrose baby bottom butter ) for the dry, sore skin around the anus.

If you are using Anusol do you have the HC (hydrocortisone) stuff as it's much better - over the counter only I think.

Hope you feel better soon, and good luck!

Thanks didn't have this at all last time and I never thought it could be so painful. I will ask for the HC stuff and see if GP has anything stronger he can prescribe in pregnancy.

Thanks again people. An update for any unfortunate ladies who might search + find this thread:

Went to GP yesterday and got prescribed Proctosedyl which combines a local anaesthetic (cinchocaine hydrochloride) and hydrocortisone, which is apparently a "corticosteroid". It still hurts but after several applications last night and this morning I am not crying any more so seems like the right thing to be doing. I've also put lavender in the bath and got germoline wipes.

Only thing is, the baby is positioned on my sciatic nerve again, so all in all still feeling pretty rubbish!

Oh, and my line manager at work is being sarcastic about my unfinished - although I am just letting him get on with that as he's doing it on e-mail and digging himself a great big hole of a sex discrimination claim and I don't really want to go back to the same job anyway if I can find another one next year.

Hey ho, pregnancy's fun isn't it!
