How much notice did you get of 12wk scan?

Hi, I should be going for my 12 week scan in about 2 weeks' time but not had anything through conforming the date. I'm just getting a bit worried as my work diary is filling up fast and before you know it I'll be in meetings every day - so a bit difficult to sneak off for a scan (don't want to tell my boss before I know everything is 100% OK).

Should I phone and press for a date or do you think it's imminent, based on your experience?

I had it booked by about 10 weeks both times I think.

About a week before ime.

Where do you live? The reason I ask is that not everyone gets scans at 12 weeks and at 20 weeks. I live in Glasgow and, like you, was panicking because I hadn't heard anything. Turns out that I only was due to get one scan- the date they originally gave me would have equated to 18 weeks by my doctor's original calcs.

In terms of notice, think I about 4 weeks. If you are concerned, you should phone up the hospital to check.

I had mine booked in at about 9 weeks I think, just after my booking in appt with the mw.

Celoas, that's what I'm what worried about - a week's notice is a bit rubbish imo!

I think if I've not heard anything by Friday I will ring them.

I had my first scan at 14 weeks, with about a week's notice.

Which was fine by me.

I had my first one at about 13 weeks I think - it isn't always bang on 12 weeks.

I got my 12 week scan at 14 weeks. And got two day's notice. Rubbish hospital though. And London. So probably won't be so crap for you.

I'd call up as I had this problem (although in my case it was as they had sent the details to our neighbours!)

I blatently said I have a busy professional job, I can currently make a number of dates but my diary will fill up. I don't want to tell work prior to knowing all is ok, and I will not be able to reschedule any of these meeting without a good reason.

If necessary (and possible) your partner can do this for you. (Especially if like me your assertiveness has been affected!)

I found being calm but extremely firm worked wonders. Complain at a higher level if necessary!

Both my scans were booked in at my first meeting with the midwife.

Although, I was due to have my 20 week scan last week (at a local NHS clinic) but it was cancelled a few days beforehand. When I finally managed to speak to the right person I discovered that the NHS contract had expired and I would need to go to the Liverpool Women's Hospital to have the scan.

As a result of this, they now have a back log and are fully booked until September. They weren't even able to give me an appointment for September and I'm still waiting to hear back ... at 22 weeks.

I doubt I'll ever get an appointment and am a bit concerned that having a back log might mean my scan is rushed. So I am in the process of transferring my care to an alternative PCT.

I think it's worth finding out what the problem is in case it's a similar thing.
