Thrush.

I've got a UTI, and have been prescribed amoxycillin for it, but it's given me thrush, as antibiotics usually do. The doc prescribed me the pessary, but i've still got another three days of the antibiotics to go, and it seems silly to use the pessary before i've stopped taking the antib's.

I have the cream, which i'm using, but i'm still itching like hell - is there anything i can do to get some relief at all?

I've used uva ursi before with a really stubborn uti, which seemed to get rid of it amazingly quickly. If you have a Neal's Yard or something like that near you then it's easy to get hold of as well as being cheap. I think there is a lack of information on how safe it is to use during pregnancy though so not sure it will help you on this occassion.

Isn't natural yogurt supposed to be good for relieving thrush? A probiotic might help keep it in check as well.

Natural yogurt does help because of the good bacteria in it. Usually they advise dipping it in a tampon first (nice) but might not be advisable in pregnancy. Also, eat a pot of natural yogurt every day right through the rest of your pregnancy. The antibiotics kill off all your good bacteria too so thrush can thrive even in the gut causing upset tummies. The good bacteria won't replace itself and will take a while to fight off all the bad bacteria, especially when pregnant. Those actimel drinks are kak because they are full of sugar which thrush and other bad bacteria thrive on.
Uva Ursi has something on the bottle about it not being advisable during pregnancy - I have some in the fridge!

God I sound like a right little know it all - sorry!! My friend is a nutritionist (i know nothing)! Also I just happened to have Uva Ursi from the last time I had a UTI before I was preg (prob well out of date). Other wise, Im usually quite thick!!
