Is it 'normal' to feel painful pressure when walking? Also very uncomfortable when baby kicks (pretty much half the day...)40 + 2 weeks and hoping it's on it's way

Yep, means that baby's head is engaged. You could try walking up and down the stairs to tone your bum muscles start things off

does that really work? Had been going for walks but so rainy the last few days I've given up..

Yes, sideways apparently, it opens the pelvis (and gives you something to do).
