Any thoughts on when to tell my boss I'm pregnant?

I'm 10 weeks and wasn't planning on saying anything at work until c. 14 weeks, but my boss just been difficult about my leaving an hour early this week to register with a new GP (just moved house)... I'm dreading telling him I have 2 doctors appointments in the next 2 weeks - maybe best just to come clean.

What did anyone else do?

I told my boss almost immeidately due to horrendous morning sickness that lasted all day and for 6 weeks!!

I told my boss straight away too as I thought she would think I had totally lost the plot otherwise - tiredness, looking like death warmed up, all day nausea etc . She was great - very supportive.
As far as I know you are legally entitled to take time off for ante natal stuff so it might be worth telling him/her sooner rather than later

personally unless you are in the line up for some big promotion then i would tell him.
i mean, why not?
i know there is the 12 week thing, but tbh if anything does happen then you're going to need time off anyway and you're past the biggest risk of miscarriage now anyway.

immediately too, same reason as fruitysunshine. He's been really good about it and looked after me really well, even offering to buy me food or drink if i need it. (and Haribo even when I dont!)

Thanks everyone... have been going a bit nuts worrying about it (I'll blame the hormone!) but think I will just take the plunge.
I am hoping for promotion in the next few months but if I'm honest it's not going to happen in the next few weeks - and would certainly be nice to have some support as am knackered and v nauseous.
Plus amidaiwish I guess you are right, he'll find out if anyway if worse comes to worse...

he probably thinks you're going for job interviews, hence the difficulty leaving early. mine did. (mind elsewhere, not quite with it, leaving bang on time etc..) I think me telling him i was pregnant was a relief.

I suspect you may be absolutely right... come to think of it he got very jittery a while back when I had a string of completely legitimate doctors' appointments for something else. I guess it's the classic excuse.
And even if he's not exactly thrilled I'm going to be deserting ship for a year, at least he has to give me the time off!

You're only protected under the law from when you tell your employer, so in that respect it might be best to tell them as soon as possible.

Did the deed today... and it's actually something of a relief to have it in the open. And am now duly protected under law! Thanks again people for your thoughts.

Hope it went ok. I had to do a similar thing yesterday and was soooo nervous but it was absolutely fine and my boss was very positive so really not worth me having worked myself up into a state about it.
