OK, so I'm another one slightly worried by a decrease in babies movement

I don't know if reading the recent threads has just frightened me, but there is a definite difference in type and frequency of movement.

I am 35 weeks today and think he has become engaged as I keep sitting on his head.

I thought that may explain the difference in movement, but now I feel I need to go to the hospital for re-assurance.

The only problem is, I live under a different borough to where the hospital is and it causes all kinds of hoo-ha. Do I need to ring the community midwife in my area or the hospital direct? If its the hospital, which dept?

Definitely get checked if you're worried, I've been twice this week as I wasn't happy with the amount and strength of movements. I have noticed though that the movements definitely have decreased since she has become engaged.

Call the main hospital switchboard and ask to be put through to the delivery assessment unit maybe? That's where I had to go - no idea if it's the same in other hospitals! If not then i'm sure they'll point you in the right direction.

phone delivery suite/ antenatal ward and speak to a MW at the hospital you are booked in at and take it from there.

Just rang. She was a right cow! I think when she knew I meant business she was a little bit more pleasant.

She said well as long as you have 10 movements a day, I think thats fine.

I said, well I don't and I want to come in.

10 movements a day is not many, when he is normally moving continually. I'm not saying I'm desperately worried, but there is a definite difference.

Waiting in for bloody British Gas and don't know what to do about school run now. Aaargh.

No-one else can do school run, I could pick her up early and go because they shut at 4.30. Just waiting for British Gas to ring back, they were supposed to be here by 1. We have no hot water as boiler is broken.

Suwoo, please do not let a MW fob you off with the 10 movements a day line. As lulu says, if 10 is way less than you are used to, then you must go in.

My doctor told me never to let someone fob you off on the phone. If you are worried, go in and get checked out. Is there a friend/ local mum who can do the school run?

I'm going to pick DD up early and take both DC with me and DH will meet us there. No-one I can really ask locally as friend is on hols.

I won't be fobbed off. He's still not moved properly- its weird.

I went in and was put on the monitor. He didn't move for 20 minutes although hb was fine. She gave me some iced water and made DH go to the shop for some chocolate and he started moving after that.

She showed me the movements on the graph and I hadn't felt most of them. She said its not unusual for the mum to not feel them .

She said to be fully re-assured that everything is fine, but if I had any further concerns then I should go straight back in.

really glad you went in suwoo and more so that bub is ok. I was always told to keep full fat coke in the fridge and drink that when hadnt felt movements. It got bub moving a few times and saved the trip to the hospital.
