i think i have spd- but everyone keeps telling me its normal

i have slowly been increasing in pain over the last few months, im now struggling to walk without pain, stand, sit, lie in bed, i have clicking sounds, allot of pain between my legs and thighs, but m/w, doc everyone just says its normal. i didn't have this in my 1st pregnancy.

im struggling with my dd who is 11 months.

if you are struggling then they should refer you to a physio

are you being restrained when describing the pain? sometimes I do this and then feel cross no one is taking me seriously.

half way through explaining, i get the look, this is normal! and then i just go quite.. my dh says just carry on telling them, but i get the feeling they aren't listening, even when they try to feel the position of the baby it really hurts. im nearly 35 weeks, im hoping i don't go over, its too painful.

I have SPD and in my 1st pregnancy, I was also told that it was normal by the GP until I was about 35 weeks when I was in really bad pain, couldn't turn over in bed, grinding pain when I walked etc and the midwife diagnosed SPD, but it was too late to do anything about it as I'd have had the baby by the time a physio appointment came through.

This time as soon as I started getting pain I told the midwife and I'm being referred to the physio. (Mind you, that was at 24 weeks and I'm now 31 weeks and haven't been seen ) so just keep on at them until they sort you out!!

In the mean time, some things that help me are make sure you try to avoid movements that mean you have to step sideways as this can increase pain, when going up stairs step up with one leg and then bring the other leg up to meet it on the same step, rather than alternate legs on alternate steps IYSWIM, when you roll over in bed either sit up first, then turn, or keep your legs together and bend them slightly as you roll. Try not to lift heavy things and if you can get someone else to do the weekly shop, then tale them up on it as I find pushing a supermarket trolly really difficult and am in pain all day afterwards!

BTW mine went almost immediately after birth!

Go and demand a referral BUT make sure you ask to be referred directly to Obstetric Physio (rather than just a general referral - where you'll get stuck on a pile and eventually it'll make it's way to the right place). My midwife got me an appointment with Obs Physio in 4 days (and they apparently try to see everyone within a week or 2 of referral)

thank you htea, it also hurts when i close my legs, thats a good idea regarding the leg measurement, as last time i needed stitches and ended up in stir ups...

i dont understand why they take me serious, its bloody hurts!i did think last time im going to cry, i have a consultant appointment on Wednesday im going to be mentioning it again to them as well.
